What an outrageous philosophy.

The DEA in the UK is a law constructed by luddites when visionaries are needed! Rather than fight the Internet and the resultant consumer patterns, they should evolve their business model to take advantage of the new opportunities.

The DEA is unlikely to have any effect on file-sharing, as is evident when you look at Sweden as a case study, where file-sharing has risen since their anti-piracy laws, just now it is encrypted. But this is no reason not to try. However, there are more creative alternatives, such as Music Supported Here and Music Matters.

These do not carry the same negative repercussions on our society and economy that the DEA does. It’s an insult to democracy by being so blatantly written and pushed through by lobbyists from the BPI and other “music industry” figures. It ignored the British judiciary system by assuming guilt in the absence of proof (IP addresses cannot prove guilt in a court of law). It jeopardises our young digital economy, by eroding the chances of gaining truly wireless cities, and removes any incentive to provide free wi-fi areas.

WHAT THESE SCUMBAGS ARE ESSENTIALLY DOING WITH THIS LATEST TACTIC IS FEEDING THEIR GREED WITH THE ABUSE AND SUFFERING OF CHILDREN.

The fact that CP exists is bad enough, without even considering the sickos which produce it, and the sickos that feed the demand for it. The pro-copyright lobby’s efforts to insinuate themselves into legitimate anti-CP enforcement will just f*ck it up, as they have done with their various anti-piracy efforts. This means, as we have already seen before, many innocent people will be wrongly accused, and actual pervs may get away entirely.

Well it worked for the recently imposed bills in the UK. The extreme porn law. The law against cartoons depicting sexualized images of children (Comic books like Japanese lolicon, those Simpsons cartoons that were frequently emailed through corporate networks etc) even though they are not real and no harm came to any child. Thought crime is now a reality.
I do not condone such stuff but you really should read up on why in order to protect our freedom of speech we must protect even the icky stuff from censorship (cartoons of childlike characters engaging in sexual activities may be icky but they certainly should not be illegal IMHO and may in fact prevent real molestation occuring).

If you wish to push a political agenda one of the easiest ways is to play the ‘think of the children’ or ‘rape’ card.

The recent law on extreme porn passed in the UK was the result of one rape victims rantings and governemt lobbying.

It’s also difficult for people to oppose as nobody wants to be seen as approving of such things.
