I decided to take a look at the FAQ on BitTorrent.com, because it’s never too late to learn. And I must admit, I stumbled upon a very interesting piece of information.
The IFPI announced that they will sue at least 1000 people per month in the upcoming year. These yet to be identified pirates will face fines between 2,000 and 15,000 Euro.

This growth can be called explosive because more than 50% of the German filesharers now use BitTorrent, in 2005 this was only 1 in 5.

Chan Nai-ming, the first man ever convicted for using BitTorrent has lost his appeal. Watch out for a new Windows BitTorrent client called BitRoll. Users are reporting that it installs malware on their PCs and creates pop-up ads whenever they open their browsers.
When the popular BitTorrent tracker the PirateBay was raided in May, the police confiscated 180 servers of TPB’s hosting company PRQ. The Swedish authorities have now decided that the servers of TPB, and those of other customers unrelated to the BitTorrent tracker, will remain in custody.

When he was registering the domain for his site, his sneaky webhost, Ryan Porter quietly registered filesharingplace.com under his own name.
