Swedish ISP backs down: Allofmp3.com No Longer Blocked
For the last ten days, Swedish ISP Perspektiv Bredband has been blocking Russian Website AllOfMp3.com. This conduct has led to protests from various sources. Swedish Government Funds New ‘Young Pirates’ Organisation
Last weekend, the Swedish Pirate Party founded its youth organisation, “Young Pirates”. The Young Pirates have over 1000 members, and are therefore eligible to receive funding from the Swedish government. We got the chance to interview its chairman Hugi Ãsgeirsson. Hugi is 18 years old, and lives in the northern Swedish city of Kiruna, where he is currently on his last highschool year studying Space Science.

A recent analysis of the latest P2P trends in Germany shows that BitTorrent is now the most popular filesharing protocol in the country, leaving eDonkey behind for the first time. This growth can be called explosive because more than 50% of the German filesharers now use BitTorrent, in 2005 this was only 1 in 5.

Court Rejects Appeal of First BitTorrent Convict

BitTorrent Inc Buys uTorrent
BitTorrent Inc just announced that it has acquired the popular BitTorrent client, uTorrent. uTorrent will continue to have its own website and community for now, and the uTorrent code base will remain closed source. Ludvig Strigeus, the writer of uTorrent will serve as a technical consultant, but BitTorrent Inc will do the majority of the development work.

PirateBay Servers Still Remain in Custody

Founder of Torrentscan.com has Domain Hijacked
Mavol, the founder of filesharingplace.com, who is also the owner of the BitTorrent meta-search engine Torrentscan.com got screwed over by his (former) webhost. When he was registering the domain for his site, his sneaky webhost, Ryan Porter quietly registered filesharingplace.com under his own name.
