24 Season 7 Leaks Early to BitTorrent
Written by Ernesto on January 11, 2009The first four episodes of the new 24 season have made their way onto BitTorrent, just hours before the official TV premiere. Jack Bauer fans have had to wait a while for this one. Season 7 was originally scheduled to be aired early 2008, but was postponed for a year because of the writers strike. The wait is finally over.
Appearing a year later than planned, Fox’s new season of 24 will premiere on US TV tonight. Set three years after the previous season and a couple of months on from the events of 24: Redemption, it features a female president for the first time. Viewers will see Kiefer Sutherland, aka Counter Terrorist Agent Jack Bauer protecting the United States from a government computer systems firewall breach.
24 is traditionally one of the hit shows on BitTorrent. Together with Heroes, Lost and Prison Break, every episode is downloaded well over a million times. The show also has a reputation of leaking out, just before it premieres.
Similar to the unscheduled appearance of season 6, the first four episodes of the new season were uploaded onto several BitTorrent sites earlier today. The source appears to be a promo DVD sent out by the studios to several media outlets, TV editors and reviewers. According to early reports, the quality of the rip is mediocre, unlike the usual high quality scene rips usually posted on BitTorrent. Indeed, the leak appears to have bypassed The Scene altogether, leaking to P2P networks first.
It is often suggested that these leaks might be intentional, that broadcasters use them to hype the show just before the season starts. Although this is often impossible to confirm, it would not be the first time that this has happened.
In 2007, a Warner Bros executive admitted that he helped to leak the pilot of ‘Pushing Daisies’. The exec wanted to make sure the show “got out there,” and said his goal was to “help the cause.” He didn’t upload it himself though, but used his neighbor’s kid to do it instead.
The leak of these 24 episodes, whether intentional or not, is guaranteed to result in a surge of word of mouth promotion, and free promotion throughout the blogosphere. If anything it will help the show, rather than hurt it.

Even if it were intentional, propaganda and lies from the industry about the ethics of copyright continue to be taught in public schools across the U.S. Why should we let these lies continue to mislead children across the nation of the U.S.?
first
Does anybody know what P2P network 24 originally appeared on (before somebody Torrented it up)? Trying to find out if Dollhouse has made it out there yet.
It seems that the big company cannot stop the force of BitTorrent. Its pointless really.
They should focus on taking advantage of BitTorrent rather than fighting it all the time lol

I think it may be possible that these leaks are planned by fox and as such kind of a viral marketing strategy. The first four episodes should be a good appetizer for every fan,
hm ye thats possible Frank, but I doubt it as it would be a hugh financialbreakdown for Fox
I think that what Frank says could be true because then Fox will get more people watching it on TV when it actually airs on TV!
plz delete. ty.
shhhhhh
OH ya and its directly froma a DVD screener sohte seasins finished product
my o my WHO prolly has that
I do not believe these leaks are intenional because if i was fox i would atleast upload a good encode if were to try and promote my series via p2p.
*if I were to try and promote my series via p2p.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Fox attempt to sue someone for this…WE know it's good promotion, but execs tend to have their heads up their rears…
Entertaining series, but blatant propaganda. Suck it up, people.

I have only gone through the first chapter, but I already have the impression that it is a good book, although it does not really go in-depth into many topics.
@10: holy crap can you settle down just A BIT?!? you’re always just attacking the same institutions, we get it they suck, everyone here already knows that. just take an ambien and relax a little.
i thought its intentional, i saw these screeners a few weeks back but do to security , i
couldnt grab a hold of them. these ship via ups/fedex to the media for reviewing. seriously
i thank the ppl who uploaded these cause i hate this show and hope they loose money this way.
sorry meant to say i doubt its intentional, not thought.
oh goody, more illegal law enforcement and torture, in the name of the freedom.
We will suspend your rights in order to protect them.
The stupidest show ever. I wonder why it's so popular.
BTW, it should be named "almost 17" not 24. Yes, that's right, more than 7 hours of commercials every season. I hope Jack uses that time to shower and brush his teeth.
Sometimes i get an ugly feeling, that right-wingers are correct: that common people will never be able to care for themselves, that we will always need authorities to protect us from ourselves.
What kind of brain-dead pleeb watches this garbage anyways? With all the good documentaries and all the wonderful knowledge and history out there to fill your mind with, only a total a$$hole would watch this 24 crap. I suppose watching some authoritarian fantasy world where the 'good guys' are the ones that torture, lie, and murder must give some people a real hard-on or something. Those americans have truly been mind-fucked as of late if this is what entertains them.
well point me in the direction of those wonderful documentaries.. seriously.. need somethin new to download.. but not this shit.
I have been a fan of 24 since the beginning and I must admit last nights season premier just didnt do it for me at all!

Calculus blows! And thanks for the heads up about 24 :) hahaha
fail.
I don't watch the show nor am I going to do it, but it's always fun to see stuff get to the P2P networks before The Scene gets a hold on it.
Then again, this might be an intentional leak since it got to the P2P networks, since The Scene is much harder to "infiltrate".
If you don't like calculus, then perhaps you could try topology or analysis.
"What kind of brain-dead pleeb watches this garbage anyways?"
Most aren't stupid retards like you appear to be: you know, assuming someones braindead because they like a certain TV show.
"With all the good documentaries and all the wonderful knowledge and history out there to fill your mind with, only a total a$$hole would watch this 24 crap."
And now you're calling people assholes because they don't like what you like. Instead of being total assholes, maybe some of them are just hardworking people who come home from their work in a knowledge-based profession and don't feel like learning more.
Youi're also a true moron for stating that we should fill our minds with documentaries. Most people know that the actual amount of knowledge that can be learnt in a given subject in a 1 hour TV show is paltry and should only be used for general interests sake.
Unlike you many people like to be entertained by television and they turn to more appropriate sources of infomation for knowledge.
Why – when there is much evidence to the contrary? It came from a screener DVD, it comes in a format that has no advertisements driving people towards downloading rather than TV viewing to avoid ads – their primary source of income, it drives people towards P2P in general and it is just hours before the airing. Th enumber of people that will view this on TV after downloading will be tiny meaning they lose ratings. Many other TV episodes are leaked, are they also official policy?
Gimme a break.
so roze is into anime AND calculus documentary's?
LOLOLOLOL
i bet you're the life of the party…
assuming someones braindead because they like a certain TV show
Why, it seems like you do exactly the same thing, assuming someone to be braindead because they have made a comment on TorrentFreak.
Moreover you have not paid attention at all to the fact that this person is not calling the people who watch it braindead, but rather the act of watching it braindead.
that is a HUGE difference. thank you for taking the time to point it out!
…you retard.
He linked to a book you dumbass.
Oh?
"What kind of brain-dead pleeb watches this garbage anyways?" is what he said. He seems to be calling people who watch 24 braindead to me.
"Why, it seems like you do exactly the same thing, assuming someone to be braindead because they have made a comment on TorrentFreak."
Fair point except I'll add that I've made comments on people's content rather than the fact that they've made a comment.
LOL, no probs
Your logic is just …. stupid.
If people have already watched it, know where and how to get episodes from p2p then why the hell are they going to watch it on TV?
I come back here and there's no comments…wth?
Patriot act?
I guess it is some bug in the software or something like that. I am not sure myself. Perhaps they (TF) can elaborate?
Écrasez l'Infâme! Crush the infamous thing!
Roze
I have watched 24 since the beginning and love it!! It is the best show on TV and Jack Bauer is the man!!! If the execs have leaked purposely then good on them, they are just helping the freedom of information. The first four episodes were awesome and this season will just be another masterpiece.
Applause has to go to the writers for standing up for what they believe in, without them the series would not be made and they showed this with the strike. If 24 was a book then they would receive all the credit, the execs have to realise this.
Jack is the man and he really does make Chuck Norris cry….
give me the link to the torrents plz
thnks
