lol I was just about to say the same thing, not everyone admits to it and some may even think that when asked a question like this that it wont necessarily be anonymous. like when I sign petitions for things like sopa or pipa, I use random addresses and an alternate email. Seems to me that would be an easy way for the governments of the world to find pirate supporters or something. These days you cant even print things on paper without them being able to track that paper and figure out where it comes from.

You'd think it would be closer to 100%. Presumably Hollywood intends to open for business _some_ _day_ but in order to do that, they're going to need to see what paying customers expect. If you've never pirated, you might think DRMed discs, proprietary streams, etc, are acceptable alternatives to standard working files. But if you _have_ pirated, then you know that standard working files are the baseline. Anyone who hasn't pirated, isn't very likely to ever develop a sellable product, because they'll have no idea what people need.

[…] Every month, reports condemn the general public for downloading movies and TV shows without permission, but perhaps those industries need to look a little closer to home. A new survey among film industry professionals suggests that almost 40% have downloaded movies and TV shows illegally.Reports, research and surveys covering piracy-related issues have been released in their dozens in recent years, with many of them painting a picture of two distinct groups of people – those who illegally download and those who pay for content.Of course, the reality is that many people who obtain content for free also cheerfully pay for content too. In fact, some studies have found that the entertainment industry’s best customers are also illegal downloaders. Read full article […]
