Licensing deals are valid for years, not days. Hence a complicated negotiation to undergo. Not something that is done over the phone in a day.

A company as huge as amazon would be able to establish such direct connections and get procedures like “licensing” done MUCH MUCH faster than any small company that would have to go through hoop after hoop.

Even if they didn’t go this way, they are so huge, I’m sure if they made a change for the better, the other parties would understand.
