"In terms of Box Office revenue Inception has little to complain about though. With $823,576,195 in worldwide revenues the millions of downloads on BitTorrent didn’t get in the way of a healthy profit. "

I think BitTorrent industry generated at least $50,000,000 of those revenues. For those who watched that movie once on their 17" display, they sure want to see it again on a cinema screen.

logic is kinda flawed here...if, and this is a big if, nobody downloaded any movies whatsoever, do you really think the poor suckers at the end of the food chain would see more of the profits? Seems a bit ridiculous...imagine i was the producer or some other powerful person behind the movie...for one, if your the cleaning guy i certainly wouldn't know about you and moreover, it is me who's gonna make more money, not the people who are hired to work on "lightning", as you put it so nicely.

The problem is that this is not all about money, it is about power. The two are certainly not separable here but money is not what's targeted in the first place - at least not by the rich and "powerful". Think, the rich...why would they want to have more money? Studies have shown that for those kind of people the thought of getting/having/seeing money stimulates the same regions in the brain as cocaine, for instance. But screw the studies and let's get back to this simple question: Why would rich people still want to make more money - (psycho)logically speaking?

As for the whole "we have families and need mouths to feed"-argument...grow a pair, will ya? Nobody forced you into procreating in the first place. You wanted a family, then you gotta live with all the consequences that come with those responsibilities you've inflicted upon yourself. The whole "i have a family" line is so extremely boring and only there to appeal to people through some form of rhetoric...yes, i'm sure you've heard of Aristotle and his logos-pathos-ethos categorization when it comes to rhetoric. The problem with most people is they use the whole pathos dimension in order to make other people feel for their situation, well what about ours? But your right, i'm the most important person and if i'm not, then i will make sure to ensure to you will think that "others" are more important than you, you see where this is going, right? ;) - well, there is nothing noble about that, all part of your attempt to convince people...for whatever reason, that's surely an individual and personal matter, isn't it?

You've got several options tho...look for another job if you think you get exploited or robbed...people do that...they change jobs every now and then...but it's your passion, you say? Well thanks to your family you gotta compromise...Either you keep feeding their mouths or you work on a job that you love...

I think piracy isn't so much a problem for the people who actually work on the movies or even music for that matter...the ones that are really screwed are the middle men...but the middle men are usually also the ones who know how to manipulate others - through language, simple rhetorics - i'm sure you're good friends with at least one of those ;) Middle men are becoming obsolete, maybe not during our lifetime, but they will...it's all a question of time

Here's what I don't get, torrenting is still theft even if the movie's worldwide revenues are in the hundreds of millions. You guys talk about the producers being parasites, but what about the hundreds of people hired to work on scenery, lighting, make-up, or even just keeping the set clean? Are they parasites too? What makes it your right to take the movie without paying? Answer me that. Why are you allowed to enjoy someone else's hard work for free? I'm not going to quote figures here, but you guys are idiots. If there isn't sufficient profit for the companies' tastes, then there won't be as much effort put into movies or their scripts.

Wow, this place is full of ignorant thieves making excuses for bad behavior. IGNORANT, I say, because worldwide revenues aren't profits and any argument citing revenues as profit is laughably flawed. Even if it weren't, theft is still theft, plain and simple. You don't own it. You didn't buy it. You don't have the right to appropriate it without permission. Saying you wouldn't have bought it anyway is a childish excuse more suited to two-year-olds than persons sufficiently old and adept enough to operate a computer to download movies. Grow up.
