First off, you cannot interview anonymous. That would suggest that you interviewed a spokesperson that generally speaks for anonymous. However, Anonymous is made up from a large number of individuals each with his or her own agenda. Thus, it is not possible to interview suck a group.

This is like going to a football game, interviewing one person, and then claiming that everything that person said represents the entire stadium’s views. This is not correct. I don’t know who you talked to, but they have a poor understanding of what anonymous actually is.

Unless, of course, they meant to troll you. In which case, I support your anon-interviewee, for troll you he did.

Several months ago, my best friend was diagnosed as a schizophrenic after suffering a mental breakdown at the age of 22. He spent a period of time in a mental hospital, and was put on a course of anti-halluginogens and psychiatric therapy.

This would be bad for anybody, but he had the misfortune of being in a devoutly Scientologist family. Over the years, this family had blown tens of thousands of dollars on the Church’s bogus courses. But what was most dangerous was the Church’s paranoid opposition to the medical practice of psychiatry, which they claim to be an evil conspiracy.

In fact, their opposition to psychiatry derives from the fact that they claim that their courses are their only true path toward mental health, and thus compete with genuine psychiatric treatment. As their methods of treatment have no scientific basis, they are forced to slander the profession of psychiatry, and their propaganda is full of the most ridiculous nonsense that practically equate psychiatry with Satanism.

For my friend, this was to have dreadful consequences. His mother refused to allow him to take the medication that he had been prescribed, and terminated his course of therapy, while telling him that the doctors who had diagnosed him were evil criminals. You can imagine the effect that this would have had.

Over the following year, his condition worsened. The untreated schizophrenia forced him to drop out of college and lose his part time job, while graducally hallucinations and paranoia drove him mad. His parents’ told him to “just snap out of it”, refusing to believe that any condition diagnosed by a psychiatrist could actually exist.

Eventually, he was so tormented by his illness that he decided to take his own life, and went into a forest to hang himself. Miraculously, a stranger passing through cut him down while he was hanging, saving his life. He suffered a broken neck and a smashed jaw and spent a month in a coma in hospital.
Fortunately his parents were sufficiently devestated by the suicide attempt to allow him to recieve therapy to address his schizophrenia. In fact, all he needed the whole time was some simple medication. I wonder how many other people there are out there who are being prevented from recieving the help that they need due to religious idiocy. I lay the blame for this tragedy squarely at the feet of the Church of $cientology, and just hope that there are not too many other victims of mental illness trapped within this anti-medicine, anti-science cult of quackery.

The issue with Scientology is not that they have silly beliefs – anyone may have a silly belief; it’s a free country, please go ahead and believe in what you want.

The issue is the money.

Money for courses, money for auditing, money to go up a level, etc.

They bleed people dry.

World religions such as Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, well, they don’t charge thousands of dollars for their sacred texts.

Scientology is not a religion. It is a corrupt corporation. It only has the “religion” title due to a loophole and their desire for tax exempt status (which they sued the IRS numerous times for, and during that period they were merely a business).

All other religions have done bad things in the past. This is well known because they DO NOT squelch free speech as we know it.

The only one that does is Scientology. They do so because they have no credibility, which is why they “always attack, never defend”.

They attack our right to speak freely.

Scientology does not respect the countries or people it exploits and must be annihilated for the corrupted abomination it is.
