Anti-DRM T-Shirt Designs: Vote Now

Written by Ernesto on June 04, 2007

We don’t like DRM, and we’re not the only one. Unfortunately, the majority of the movie companies and record labels still think it’s the best way to “protect” their music. Let us show them it’s not, it only hinders honest customers.

Here are the entries we received for the Anti-DRM T-Shirt Design Contest we organized together with Beautiful Crime. You can vote for your favorite design at the bottom of this page. The winners of the design contest will be announced this weekend.

After the voting round the winning designs will be optimized for printing and will be sold for approximately $15, more details on this later. If you can’t wait, feel free to copy these images, and print your own T-shirt!

We don’t plan to make any profit, but if we do we will donate the money to charity.

im going to wait and see which one wins and then i will go out and make tons of them and sell them… im the reason why music companies put drm in their music.

@64

Well, if one of mine wins, you just have to email me so I can send you the high resolution files!

Well I think we can see that there is a lot of agreement to the fact that the majority of these designs are poor.
Thew standard is LOW!
I didn’t even know this competition was going because I and my partner are artists and I tell you now I think I can create better than these without too much trouble…yet I know very little about using digital art programs or photoshop, I generally use pencil or paint and paper!
Anyway as I had to vote for one I voted for 31 as its simple and clear and not trying to be too big for its boots, if you get me.
Also why hasn’t anyone pointed out the totally friggin’ OBVIOUS fact here and that is that there is some very shady voting going on:
Number 6 and I’d guess also number 19 are being multiple voted probably by the creators!
The standard of these and the comments here, coupled with the amazingly high vote count for those indicates FRAUD!
It ain’t such a technical complexity to spin around on proxies all day and keep voting this page!
That sucks.

Oh come on, get real, I made nr. 6, and I can guarantee you I didn’t vote for myself. I mean, my design rocks! Of course it’s winning! You’re being a bit paranoid now. Don’t you think this contest being featured on Digg and BoingBoing has something to do with the amount of votes?

I’m afraid gay people don’t understand what is it the problem with DRM if they see the design number 34 :)

Um sorry to burst your bubble but my point is that number 6 is just as bland as the rest yet that one and two others have a huge vote which is completely unrealistic!!
Paranoia doesn’t come into it.
Heh.

Ah, right. Well, thanks!

And also, here is the point where you show your stuff, so I can comment on it!

* I meant: ..show your stuff, so I can piss all over it.

Well, I suspect #6 is winning because it’s funny and to the point, not because of its artistic quality. Keep in mind that many of the people voting are geeks, not artists.

6 is the best by far

89 Jun 10, 2007 at 00:29 by Resync

Remember everyone, piracy isnt limited to films and music? If your favorite design doesn’t get printed, save the image and do it yourself ! ;)

I love nb 40
second would be nb 31….
6 would come third for me.
Well, that’s my top 3 designs

91 Jun 12, 2007 at 06:31 by Yaminou

I vote for 19 and 42 if it’s possible. 19 only if not.
