Daniel (comment 8), when it comes to distribution of pirated content, torrents are pretty much at the bottom of the food chain. If the guy they arrested really is part of the warez scene, then he and his server very likely have nothing to do with torrents. He was probably running one of the Top Sites used those in the release groups for posting their releases. From there, the content gets copied and redistributed through various channels before a few people finally post them to torrent sites.

actually, usenet is usually first, but with more using torrents, sometimes torrents are first, then usenet, then ftp/p2p . Lots of people operate their scene box then use the same seedbox to seed their files via torrent or dump their scene files strait to p2p.

As someone who pays for movies with money, I can only say that im thrilled to hear about this. Europe has long since been a sponsor of piracy and it’s great to see that they’re finally coming around and changing their attitude towards theft and freeloading.

So basicaly one server go down with 10k movies will have no effect whatsoever not even close!

Any way even if they were to remove all the movies and audiotrack form the face of this planet it will still not make us buy anything from these corporate criminals.

Sounds to me like an extremely over exaggerated story. I won’t even get into the technical aspect of such a “server”.

“The sever DID NOT contain 88TB. The entire site ring was 88TB, and APB has busted ONE of the servers.

The server case was a Lian Li box with room for 30 HDDs maximum. And since the disks are probably of varying size I doubt the single server contained more than 10TB.”

If he didn’t just make all of that up, it seems like he had some inside info.

Another thing:
