Close. Apple is actually lucky to break even from App Store sales. The main reason they block it is because strong protection of thier apps entices developers to make the quality apps you actually would want to pirate.

Do you realize this post is 5 months old? Were you googling something anti Apple so you could complain about it? Your use of the word Windoze certainly won't help you being taken seriously.

The problem with this closed market system is that they create an alternate reality where tits and torrents don't exist. It's censorship and it makes devices less useful, not more useful. If they don't want "bad" apps, they could change the search in the store, so you don't find the tits and torrents unless you explicitly search for them.

Most people who program open source are paid to do it, open source can move ahead without breaking your capitalist rules. In marketshare Android is way bigger than iOS and doesn't need any catching up.

So many messages only telling half the story. I agree it's stupid and irritating apple try to control our devices. But it's totally understandable. Apple make "boutique" hardware and software, [ie. THE BEST] and understandably want to protect their profits and all the money they have invested in making something amazing for users [ie. "THEIR HARD F****ING WORK"]. [Have you ever USED apple devices? Man, they're amazing! They "just work"! I could never ever go totally go back to windoze unless apple somehow dies, and Ubuntu needs a lot of work to get anywhere close, although I hope it does some day].

I can run Windows and Ubuntu seemlessly side-by-side with OSX using software called "VMware Fusion", and flick between them at the flick of a wrist using the touchpad, and use files between them all [needed to install extra drivers, but that's easy]. I rarely use windows or ubuntu, except for the very very few things they are good for / do better than osx, which is almost nothing.

I eagerly await for Open Source devices and software to catch up, but it's still a while away. Hopefully it speeds up, but in the end, or at least so far, the quality stuff is coming from where the money is going to.

Makes sense right? Nobody is making the amazing s**t for free.

ie. people paying apple, and apple employees being inspired by $$$ to make the best "boutique" computers and software available.
