These aren’t “apps” these are movies available for download, just like buying the latest episode of desparate housewives, or starwars….except Apple doesn’t have permission to offer them for download. Apple blantantly makes money on these.

It doesn’t matter, Apple still allowed it to go on their App store without express consent from the publishers.
I guess the point is the same for any torrent site you say “Its other people that are slipping illegal content into the Apple ecosystem, not Apple themselves.” That’s also the same for torrent websites. Its people who slip illegal torrents onto the sites, not the makers of the sites. Yet the makers of the site are the ones who get in trouble, while I bet Apple will walk away free.

First, it’s a link w/ a summary of an article that is not being covered by TF. I don’t think people are understanding the purpose of the “News Bits” section…

Secondly… “Gosh, out of the millions of apps out there, I don’t think it’s possible that they could check the rights for all of the individual files making up those apps.” Sounds like exactly what the content industry is arguing that search engines start doing for them with all of the BS filtering schemes.

As much as I’d like this to be, iTunes ? App store. Its other people that are slipping illegal content into the Apple ecosystem, not Apple themselves. Sure they approve apps, but an app-as-movie isn’t the same as directly selling pirated movies in their movie store on iTunes.

Ernesto, I’ve been reading TorrentFreak, for a while, but if these bullshit sensationalist articles are just going to keep proclaiming things that are barely true. “I guess piracy isn’t all that bad if you’re profiting from it. Yeah, like the iPad.” What the hell does that even mean?

It’s getting to the point where I could go to Fox News and expect less bias than what I’m getting here. Seriously, you titled the article “Apple Sells Pirated Films on iTunes” when the only evidence you have for that is that they accidentally approved a few obscure apps (that they make THIRTY CENTS off of per sale)?

tl;dr Stop with the sensationalism, god dammit.
