This wont affect you, you bluray player, your tv and your pc already has this technology, its called HDCP and it’s used to play back encrypted content.
I suspect that this is intended more for smart tv’s.
Just a scaremongering article.

Oh man the start up company’s will be epic. In truth, this only effects some people. The rest of us just take note at how much we don’t want to buy new media playback equipment. Funny thing is the best feature on most of these new devices is the USB port, then the WIFI.

It will be a sad day when understand that they are alienating their client base.

The solution is to simply not buy it, but good luck with that, with the millions of sheeple who find it more important to have the latest gadgets at all times, rather than exercise their basic consumer rights of free choice and voting with your wallet. The same drama with DRM in software and games, as long as we have the millions of kids who buy these crappy games despite the despiccable and disrespectful way the companies treat their customers, that shit isn’t going away.

Who are they kidding anyway? This seems like an HDCP for mobile devices, and what effect did HDCP have on piracy? They should be aware of the fact that the films that leak do so from way earlier in the production chain, before any end-user DRM is even applied.
