This is old news. It's been known for a while that it's possible for individuals to boost their download rates by controlling the connections, however the uploader is still limited to their upload rate and you're still limited to your download rate. Most of the time, as long as the file is well seeded, you'll get a better download rate downloading from multiple sources, even if they aren't fully seeded, rather than concentrating on just one or two seeders.

I don't think so, the antip2p-dudes will usually hang around as long as possible, in order to harvest as many IP's as possible to extort - What you are describing is just rude hit-and-runners, or maybe some of the few fools who believe you don't get busted if you don't upload .

I had a 100/100Mbit/s pipe for a long time and one of the first things I had to learn was to just stop worrying and love the swarm . Often I would have a 8:1 ratio before completing the download myself ..

I've done this, albeit manually.

A 1MB file and somehow I managed to seed >1GB of it to one person, who was still at 0%.

Yup, banned.

i hear what you saying but you mis understand

Im talking about being the main seeder of a file (100 percent)

and you see others grabbing it from you but limiting their upstream cos their percent keeps going higher.
while other peers arent getting any faster and fall behind

Im sure these are the antip2p people or leechers etc they refer too :)

I'm guessing here, but you are from the US, right ?
Here in Europe, outside of Scandinavia, it is not uncommon to have internet-connections that are grossly disproportioned in down- vs up-stream . You can find 50Mbit/s down- with only 3Mbit/s up- stream .

The silliest I've seen yet is a 100Mbit/s down with 5Mbit/s up .
Those 5Mbit/s are barely enough to send the piece-requests!
One thing you CAN be sure about is that the dude with 70% has pieces that you don't have - And if you ban him, you won't be getting them from him either .
So, stop playing the torrent-police !

if that was so.. then these guys would be fast sharers, espc when they reach 100 percent

I can watch them grab and hit and run all the time.

I never see these guys suddenly boost the peer dl figures to 1mb/sec like

it goes like this one guy has 70 percent and rest all sharing nicely about 20 percent and slow increasing..

block that 70 percent guy.. and still the rest increasing at same speed blocking the guy mad no difference but to save on data cap and bandwidth :)
