aXXo Temporarily Stops Releasing DVDrips
Written by Ernesto on November 28, 2007The popular DVD ripper aXXo is a BitTorrent cult figure, despised by some, worshiped by others. An estimated one million people download aXXo’s rips every month and his name is among the most searched keywords on all BitTorrent sites. Not surprisingly, rumors start to spread when there is no official aXXo release for a while.
The last official aXXo torrent was uploaded November 11, after that is has been awfully quiet. So what happened, did he get caught, is he tired of releasing DVDrips, did he have an accident? It turns out that aXXo is not gone for good, he just decided to take a break.
ADL 242, an administrator on Darkside RG, the official home of aXXo explains: “aXXo told us that he has decided to take a break, so you will not see new aXXo torrents anywhere for a while. Please show your support by keeping his torrents alive until he comes back, as always, he will post here first when he does.”
This is not the first time that aXXo has taken some time off. Last year aXXo temporarily stopped uploading movies because a website named axxotorrents.com was trying to profit from his name. A few weeks after that the site went down and aXXo continued releasing DVDrips.
Earlier this month aXXo caused a stir when he deleted all his torrents from The Pirate Bay website. Apparently aXXo wasn’t very happy with the way The Pirate Bay handled his complaints, and decided to not release his torrents there anymore.
Unfortunately, aXXo’s popularity has downsides too. We’ve seen that anti-piracy organizations use his name to trap people into downloading fake files, and malware peddlers use the aXXo brand to spread their infested software.
At this point is is not clear how long aXXo will be inactive, his fans can only pray, and hope the he will return soon.

And his popularity has helped all of us get Good quality stereo movies , fuck 5.1 i have thx and don’t really care is i watch BLOODCAR in 5.1 , i cant download a 1.5 gig movie in 8 hours at work ! THANKS aXXo for letting me get paid to download a movie a day. It took 4 days to download Transformers with 5.1 sound. low bandwidth loves aXXo. File sharing is NOT illegal. Otherwise, Limewire, Bearshare, Warez, etc, would all be illegal software.
So you would have to prove that the movies originated from his computer, which is logically impossible because you couldnt prove that he didnt download them from somewhere else!
Now, due to the Internet Privacy Act of 1997 signed by alot of different countries, (if you are an American, Bill Clinton was the first to sign) it makes it even more logically impossible to “stop piracy”.

Axxo is a living legend in the UK (like Robin Hood). Everyone who has a PC knows his name for quality DVDRips or Re-Rips. Who cares if ’some’ of the re-rips are from another group but some are his own original rips. I agree he should give credits in his NFO files but you cannot go wrong downloading his versions where ever they come from. He will also try and keep files sizes small and best quality. I hope he takes a well earned break from the scene as his name is being used to trick many people is downloading ‘criminal’ malicious software made my movie studios to damage your property (PC). They earn so much money from shit movies and actors/studios are too well paid anyway (average 16% rise if profits this year too). You cannot go to a cinema and watch a movie and ask for you money back because it was crap but you can with any other product you buy so rock on all you pirates and give them a fight they deserve. The most pure art form is ‘art for arts sake’ not ‘art for monies sake’ or only crap will be produced. Axxo… take as long as you want off, we will always be here for you when you come back. PS: I often buy DVDs from shops/stores that I have downloaded before purchasing, I have a huge DVD collection just because Axxo and others do such a good job.
