aXXo Temporarily Stops Releasing DVDrips
Written by Ernesto on November 28, 2007The popular DVD ripper aXXo is a BitTorrent cult figure, despised by some, worshiped by others. An estimated one million people download aXXo’s rips every month and his name is among the most searched keywords on all BitTorrent sites. Not surprisingly, rumors start to spread when there is no official aXXo release for a while.
The last official aXXo torrent was uploaded November 11, after that is has been awfully quiet. So what happened, did he get caught, is he tired of releasing DVDrips, did he have an accident? It turns out that aXXo is not gone for good, he just decided to take a break.
ADL 242, an administrator on Darkside RG, the official home of aXXo explains: “aXXo told us that he has decided to take a break, so you will not see new aXXo torrents anywhere for a while. Please show your support by keeping his torrents alive until he comes back, as always, he will post here first when he does.”
This is not the first time that aXXo has taken some time off. Last year aXXo temporarily stopped uploading movies because a website named axxotorrents.com was trying to profit from his name. A few weeks after that the site went down and aXXo continued releasing DVDrips.
Earlier this month aXXo caused a stir when he deleted all his torrents from The Pirate Bay website. Apparently aXXo wasn’t very happy with the way The Pirate Bay handled his complaints, and decided to not release his torrents there anymore.
Unfortunately, aXXo’s popularity has downsides too. We’ve seen that anti-piracy organizations use his name to trap people into downloading fake files, and malware peddlers use the aXXo brand to spread their infested software.
At this point is is not clear how long aXXo will be inactive, his fans can only pray, and hope the he will return soon.

Remember why you use to go to the movies? Movie tickets where cheap, inexpensive and films where great, worth watching and watching over again on the large screen: Lawrence of Arabia, Star Wars, Steel Magnolias…. WTF happened?
We shell out $100s for a move going evening. Popcorn $5, Hotdogs $5, Soda $5 and the tickets, the tickets… OMG the Freggin tickets prices just went up again. And for what? To see mediocre, formulaic, Hollywood cookie cutter films that fail to inspire. Such a dismal state in Hollywood. Is it any wonder people rarely see films at the theater. These films that aXXo puts out to share are films most people wouldn’t bother to watch at theater or even rent a Blockbuster. But there are some films that we download and are so impressed that we rush out to the theater to watch it, or buy the DVD for the extras. Its time for Hollywood to re-evaluate circumstance in which they find themselves. There’s probably a way for Hollywood to make a profit off P2P. They just have to embrace this culture/community and work with it not against it, because no mater how many sites you break up, P2P community will just switch to a new strategy or new technology, and this community is going to be around for a very long time.
last time I checked its all free… and no one forces you to download axxo rips. so if its been re-encoded a million times, what does it matter? you know what your going to get. If we still used hotline, where you had to upload a request to download, all you babies would have nothing.

Honestly people, his rips aren’t that bad. Perhaps they aren’t scene x264, but still, DVDs aren’t exactly good quality to begin with. So seriously, stop bashing him on the grounds that his rips aren’t good unless you are releasing something far better. However, if you would like to bash him based on his behavior, go ahead.

#55 is right. This will go on for a really long time no matter what… it’s just sad to see aXXo stop doing his wonderful rips and going on a break.. I would suggest to get someone to take his place for the time he’s gone and make the dvdrips we all like to watch !

don’t care what anyone says axxo is great he saves me from having to rip it and i love the movies he puts out and he can get the prereleased and i cant so i say #1axxo. and i also believe that we already paid for the damn movie cause to me if i pay for internet anything on that b tch should be allready paid for
To anyone calling people noobs for downloading aXXo’s rips:
Have you ever thought that maybe people download these rips because-
1)They don’t want the full DVD
2)Highest quality isn’t to important
3)It’s only 700mb
That’s enough reasons for me. And that’s why I download those releases. It’s not because I don’t know about the other ones, it’s just I don’t need anymore then what his rips offered. Plus they fit on music CD’s which is nice because I don’t usually have blank DVD’s.

i am now a medium movie DLer and for people starting out aXXo was a safe bet, with experience i have found others. but aXXo is still my fave.
maybe NOW people will see new files under his name are fakes and stop posting “is it real?”!

Why the hell would I download any releases by this axxo guy? The scene is where it’s at - everything is organized and there are standards, instead of one random guy doing shitty rips and putting them on torents.

FUCK EVERYONE AND EVERYTHING except p2p. Its what makes getting out of bed worthwhile. All the time we are ripped off by Hollywood, time and time again. But why should we have to pay their extortionate amount. We fight the monopoly and get to try before we buy. We, as a nation after all is what has made celebs who they are and the film ind what it is. Viva la revolution!
