aXXo Temporarily Stops Releasing DVDrips
Written by Ernesto on November 28, 2007The popular DVD ripper aXXo is a BitTorrent cult figure, despised by some, worshiped by others. An estimated one million people download aXXo’s rips every month and his name is among the most searched keywords on all BitTorrent sites. Not surprisingly, rumors start to spread when there is no official aXXo release for a while.
The last official aXXo torrent was uploaded November 11, after that is has been awfully quiet. So what happened, did he get caught, is he tired of releasing DVDrips, did he have an accident? It turns out that aXXo is not gone for good, he just decided to take a break.
ADL 242, an administrator on Darkside RG, the official home of aXXo explains: “aXXo told us that he has decided to take a break, so you will not see new aXXo torrents anywhere for a while. Please show your support by keeping his torrents alive until he comes back, as always, he will post here first when he does.”
This is not the first time that aXXo has taken some time off. Last year aXXo temporarily stopped uploading movies because a website named axxotorrents.com was trying to profit from his name. A few weeks after that the site went down and aXXo continued releasing DVDrips.
Earlier this month aXXo caused a stir when he deleted all his torrents from The Pirate Bay website. Apparently aXXo wasn’t very happy with the way The Pirate Bay handled his complaints, and decided to not release his torrents there anymore.
Unfortunately, aXXo’s popularity has downsides too. We’ve seen that anti-piracy organizations use his name to trap people into downloading fake files, and malware peddlers use the aXXo brand to spread their infested software.
At this point is is not clear how long aXXo will be inactive, his fans can only pray, and hope the he will return soon.

Most of the above post are by MPAA trying to give a bad name to file sharing, and decided to take down and pick on aXXo, because he is famous for sharing our culture’s heritage among the people, just like Good Robin Hood gave money to the poor.
The rich and wealthy need NOT bother to download low quality rips, as they have the best Blue-ray technologies.
The few Americans who can afford the high cost of paying to watch a movie once, good for you, but the rest of us living in third world countries down even get a chance, unless someone shares…
After thinking about this issue, it’s plain and simple, a few want to monopolize the market, obviously to get rich, and they don;t mind making us criminals for them to profit…
First it’s our culture, be country, or humanity… and it shouldn’t be forbidden and denied so just a few can rape the rest of us…
When you think about it, the MPAA like the RIAA, don’t create, don;t innovate, and are not even artist, they just steal, cheat and use other individuals work to redistribute for their own profits…
get organized and pas new laws forbidding these capitalist from raping us all…
I will never purchase another movie or music again until the RIAA and MPAA are shut down and its employees are thrown in prison.

Though, i wish there was an aXXo counterpart for hd or dvd-r(dvd9) rips, there are few scene groups that are consistent with this.

I live in queensland australia and have been using axxo downloads for about 1 year,axxo’s movies have always been very good quality,I did have a bitch about some movies but I don’t know if they were his or not.
It sounds to me that axxo taking a break is amount to world war 3,get over it, I have never been let down by a proper axxo rip.
It’s the dickheads that use his name that need shooting .

I will admit to being a ‘Noob’, so what? We all have to start somewhere. I didn’t even KNOW axxo stuff was poor quality, everything I’ve gotten from him has been fine, and FREE, I have questions:
1. WTF are Sceners?
2. Are all the movies uploaded ripped from DVD’s? If not, where do they come from? (Don’t wanna know about camcorder crap)
3. Which is the best torrent browser to use to find quality downloads?
4. How does one know if it will be decent quality?
Anyway, the great axxo debate rages on, personally, I don’t care where I get my downloads from if they work. Most of the movies that Hollywood churns out these days aren’t worth buying on DVD anyway, the hot dogs at my local cinema are frankly dangerous, and I am LAZY, so if someone else wants to put in the effort of re-encoding movies that I can obtain quickly, with a few clicks of my mouse, then that’s fine by me.
And finally, if someone can get so irate about such a trivial matter that they wish someones mother gets cancer, they need some sort of therapy, probably the electrical kind…..

What I said was that ANYONE can do what axxo does….He’s a lamer that uses a few 1-click apps to re-encode something that SOMEONE ELSE worked hard to release to us, yet you idiots go on about him like hes some sort of GOD. HE DOES NOT RELEASE CRAP. if he did we would see his work on the likes of rlslog.net or vcdquality.com. But you don’t…reason being is that those sites report on SCENE releases. You know, people, the Scene….The ones who take the risk and actually RELEASE the material.
Next time you want to spout off at least make some sense junior. And BTW I DO make my own RE-Encodes IF I need to for some reason. I just don’t upload them to every torrent site and claim that I released them, and make my own nifty little .nfo…..

LOOOOL Funny. Re-encoding isn’t exactly rocket science. ANYONE can re-encode a video and get decent quality. It isn’t hard if you take a little time and figure it out. Now, if the source material is crap, and you can somehow re-encode it and make it look BETTER…then you’re doing something. But with video, the rule-of-thumb is Garbage in, Garbage out. All AXXO does is find a decent rip (Released by someone else) and then re-encodes it to fit on one CD. Then, he claims credit for it…..GET REAL.

You obviously know nothing about encoding. He doesen’t make it better, he just makes it smaller….you know what that term is called? “Compression”…by compression, we mean making smaller.
The more times you compress a video, the more quality you are going to lose….period. Garbage in, garbage out….Depending on the compression algorithm, data is removed to facilitate compression…You can compress a video TWICE and expect a quality gain, although you can use certain filters during compression to make it look more pleasing to the eye, you’re not actually making the original any better quality.

why such negative comments about a guy that gives his time to allow you to receive good quality films, you download and burn off for a couple of pence, alternatively you spend pounds and pounds on buying from the stores, i wonder who the real crooks are, personally i think its the corperate giants who make millions out of normal people creating an overpriced life for us all, i for one thanks axxo, and would not blame him at all for never bothering again either, if your against it then dont download it .. simple
