A partner’s friend deals in this internet law. He has had hundred’s of clients having letters sent out from this company Rasch of Hamburg wanting big money payments or go to court. I guess this guy’s making lots of money, from a source on the internet that’s readily available for free and to everyone around the world. These Lawyers are the crooks in my eyes.

My immediate thoughts matey, exactly correct, the firms established over many decades wanting to minimise public perception impact from engaging with a host of seriously unfair prosecutions and harassments will simply form seperate companies and directorships on corporate levels.

Doesn’t cost much for them to do so and do so they will, so the established firms don’t get associated with bad treatment of citizens.

@Comment #8 – While I too pirate content from time to time, I in no way support other people making money off pirated stuff. Sharing is one thing, making money by selling something you do not own is outright theft and such cases should indeed be prosecuted.

They only abandoned the scheme due to bad publicity, not that it is morally wrong. They are acting as a sociopath would act. They are still blameworthy for they stopped for the wrong reasons.

Nonetheless I am happy that they stopped, and their blameworthiness is less severe than ACL or whatever the last continuing firm was called.

why doesn’t someone just start emailing out random letters to people telling them that their IP addresses are infringing copyright (they are connected to the internet).

Any response they get that say that this address doesn’t own a computer take it off the list, but the rest keep sending them junk mail….

If I got an ACS:Law letter, I would forward on to the spam group and fine them 50k per infringment or whatever the fine is for sending out unsolicited bulk email….

Hey thanks is an idea…sue them for spam…I hear it is really common in most technologically advanced countries….based on looking at the debat from DEB, I suspect that UK is not that advanced yet…or at least the MP’s aren’t.

BTW when is the next election can the DEB bill be revoked when the new parliment comes in…since none of the old timers will still be attending?

Traditionally, the villain of the piece never has a reputation to damage. Indeed, their lack of reputation is sometimes cited as a factor in turning them to villainy. If I were uncharitable, I might suggest Mr Crossley could find greater happiness through counselling.

While it might be nice to think that those blameless people harangued by Tilly Bailey & Irvine will have nothing further to worry about, this didn’t happen with Davenport Lyons. If TBI’s former client, Media & More, want the matters transferred to a new firm of solicitors, TBI will have to oblige. Also, TBI couldn’t apologise, even if they wanted to. Now that they’ve represented Media & More, they can’t be seen to act against them. That would be a conflict of interest.

What about firms who force people to pay fines for trying to sell pirated stuff on eBay and similar sites , they make people sign documents you won’t mention which company fined you. Be warned many companies make test purchases from these sites if you send a copy to buyer you can be threatened with police action which forces many to pay up as if cops raid you and take your computer they may find lots more stuff u didn’t pay for . How about article on this or some advice ?
