Yesterday I read with interest that the Iraeli govt took the film of two Australian cameramen who were witness to them landing on a ship running a blockade.They are now in process of editing said film and releasing it to the world as propaganda to justify their actions.How many copywright laws do you think they have broken,(I mean,the film does not belong to them)and do you think they give a rat`s.?People in power make their own rules!Also,If someone were to ask me for directions to a bank…….And then they robbed that bank………Would I be complicit in the crime????????

Corruption in court doesn’t seem to make as much of a big deal as I would expect. For years TF has been reporting on the courts.
First it was “Judges can’t see reason”.
Then it was “Judges wont see reason because they’re biased”
Now it’s “Judges will not only see reason, but they’re passing their bullshit on to new judges in educational seminars”.

Next it will be “Judges rape women and burn down the houses of a small tribal village in Kuwait, leaving hundreds dead. Supreme court of the world deems it OK.”

Will anyone give a damn then? I don’t know… it’s like, just because they’re judges, no one cares what they get up to!!

dumbass RIAA/MPAA keep asking for money but what about people’s homes, car bills, etc… how they gonna afford while RIAA/MPAA taking money out of people’s hard-earned money? i bet they are…

in my opinion if RIAA/MPAA knew there’s piracy online so I think they probably hired some ppl to upload to several sites so they can take several sites down so they can get paid. i think it probably tricky. I bet everybody just people but not RIAA itself it just control by people. RIAA member and I are same thing right? I mean, are they taking job so seriously? I was wondering if their pay rate to its employees no wonder why they trying to fight piracy people… isn’t joke?

Do you really believe that the WHOLE world will sanction a country over such a minor issue (part of any agreement). Maybe the US will but i don’t think Belgium, Germanany, Pakistan, India, Brazil and so on will follow.

In the past, the US (Bush) have broken the trade rules themselves by subsidising their steel industries and except for complaining from Europe nothing happened.

There were a lot more unsanctioned issues. Germany+France not abiding by stability rules or soft drug policy in NL. Even better, Israel has so many UN declarations against them they may have a spamfilter for it.

PS: A lot of people in EU forget that laws are NOT dictated by the EU but rather created by their own politicians who then MUST sign/agree the directive before it has any meaning for any country.

#4 whilest i too will be voting pirate party because they cover digital freedoms the best, its hardly as if they are the only ones talking about it. in fact, just last week Bits of Freedom compared several parties on the matter of digital freedom and apparently Groenlinks has a ton of stuff in their programs too!

i am still voting pirateparty, its time we get at least 1 or 2 people in the hague that has a clue what they are talking about, im fine with the pirateparty becoming sort of a pvdd.

im still rooting for groenlinks too, since they have a ton of stuff on digital freedoms and do have a chance to implement some of it

Yes, you CAN ignore international agreements, and you WILL get economically sanctioned if you do. We are internationally bound by WIPO treaties and EU regulations, and unless we’re willing to completely stand on our own, we can’t simply ignore them. That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be forming a national point of view on these matters to take into future international treaty negotiations though.

There’s also some room within the international agreements to rewrite national copyright law to more suit today’s society. We should certainly make use of that.

Living in the Netherlands, I am quite sure that The Pirate Bay will not get a seat in the Parliament. Why? Because the current debates on economics, which the Pirate Party has very little to say on (luckily, the Anti Muslim party has nothing to say on that either, which means they are going way down in the polls :D)

Dutch are too stupid to vote for freedom. (The English also failed to watch Pat Condell.. vote small.. i’m afraid)

I’ll vote pirate, but i’am afraid they will not get a seat as long as the corruption doesn’t get on TV at around 19:00-20:00.

The problems are that now the politics is all about savings and the Dutch pirate party leader is not the strongest of personalities. This last thing shouldn’t be an issue but unfortunatelly in the Netherlands except for cows there are also a lot of sheep that need a shepard instead of good solutions.

I disagree, other parties don’t have the same ideas, some come close but still can’t explain that you CAN ignore international agreements (will the US invade us then ?). Green-left is the closest but a party with some other strange ideas.

The sentence will be appealed, no court’s judge in his/her right mind can uphold it. If no one is allowed to post (meaning simply write down) a string of words then this sentence will be used for countless forms of censorship. If gambling is illegal in your country, it could mean that the road sign ‘Monaco 212km’ gets taken down, or if soft-drugs are illegal in your country the road sign ‘Amsterdam 150km’ gets removed.. You may laugh at it now, right up until the day someone actually takes down the road signs..

problem here is it is very similar to what happened with TPB and we know the verdict there was that there was no bias on behalf of the judge. the fact that those that made the ‘no bias’ decision, were themselves biased, being irrelevant. educating themselves over copyright law is all very good for the judges in these cases, but to attend a totally one sided course, run by a lawyer representing the copyright industries is not only taking the piss but taking biasness to a whole new level!!

I seriously doubt they will get a seat tomorrow. Too many Dutch political parties already support most of the Pirate Party’s points of view, while also having political solutions to other issues like the current economic trouble.

It doesn’t help that the Dutch Pirate Party mostly consists of relatively young enthusiasts who often have trouble debating at a political level. The recent debate in Amsterdam on copyright clearly showed that they still have a lot to learn when it comes to selling themselves as a serious political party.

The court is supposed to be independent from politics. So its not very smart of them to have big opinions on this. Separation of powers, the division of branches is into an executive, a legislature, and a judiciary. Guess they got alot to learn, FTD should just go to a higher court.

how much i would like to see them in the parliament, i don’t think it is gonna happen…unfortunately poeple here still vote for the same parties that have allways been around, mainly vvd groenlinks d66 cda pvda and that new party pvv with that weirdo as a leader…my vot is going to the pirate party anyway, they are the only ones who cover subjects like internet freedom and stuff like that…but i don’t think a lot of youth will vote for them :(
