Encourage leeching? You can do that with any ap. Many people have no choice either. If they did have a choice there's no reason they wouldn't happily share. If this thing uploads at the same time then leeching wouldn't be a problem. Depends on the share ratio and if it causes bandwidth problems to some. Does this make any sense? To me anyway.

I've never been able to get Bitlet to work. I just brushed it off figuring it's "experimental" label was probably accurate.

Unfortunately, Webware does not have a "file sharing" category in its awards listing. (apparently ignoring that the top SIX most popular downloads on Sourceforge are all P2P applications)

Too bad Seeqpod.com is not even listed.

My vote for best web app goes to Jake9's Player ( http://testforum.110mb.com or http://jake9.exofire.net ) which is a webplayer for directly playing [streaming] divx/xvid video files stored on many popular file-hosting sites like MegaUpload.com

Why all you guys keep complaining about leeches? I can't see the point here: Bitlet stops seeding when the I close the download window.

Isn't that the same thing Azureus, uTorrent and other clients do?

It allows you to listen to the music you are about to download first to verify quality and fidelity very quickly through streaming. Then you can download the whole thing to listen offline in the knowledge that you have downloaded a quality release, and seed it till your ratio is 2.0 or 3.0 or whatever you have set it at.

Now they just need FLAC support, and all will be well.

pro's and con's
Pros,
Easy to use, no installs, no jumbling .torrent files, and always the best speeds.

Con's,
Too easy to use, leecher magnet, too many flaws were the person downloading the torrent can make it so they are invisible and their ratio is never changed.

Actually, when I think about it, it's not bad for private sites, only public. If private sites were to encorporate this java applet into their own site then it makes it possible for the users to use high speed servers to serve the community. They will ned the ratio here so leeching it's a worry.
