BitTorrent Oscars: Pan’s Labyrinth Big Winner
Written by Ernesto on February 26, 2007The absolute winner of the OscarTorrent night 2007 is Pan’s Labyrinth with 6 Oscars, including the Oscar for best foreign language film. Blood Diamond is runner up with 3 Oscars. An Inconvenient Truth, The Departed, and Children of Men were all rewarded with 2 Oscars, and Marty Scorsese got his first award from the pirates.
OscarTorrents.com is the pirate alternative for the Academy Awards, and was supported by the popular BitTorrent tracker The Pirate Bay. The website launched early February, and offered torrents for all the 2007 Oscar nominees. Everyone could download and watch the movies, and then vote for their favorite.
The project turned out to be a great success, over 100.000 votes were casted in less than three weeks. It is not sure if there will be another OscarTorrents night next year, if it is up to the OscarTorrents team, there wont be.
On the site we read” “to the MPAA and Big Hollywood. We hope we won’t have to do this again next year. Hopefully you’ll do it for us”
But that’s probably not going to happen. The list of all the OscarTorrent winners can be found over here.

Yeah I dled that shit.
Pan’s labyrinth deserve the win because it was such a great movie, definately the best movie of 2006
Sadly, I have totally missed the election of the movies and the website at all…
Sorry, but I believe the people of the academy went a little funny in the head. I thought this movie was awful. To begin with, the whole bloody story made no sense. Who would want to be a princess of some underground world, with no sun or sky? That could perhaps be a vampire or a dark creature of some sort. This makes no sense at all sorry. And the Spanish part again as always the yanks think of Spaniards as Mexicans, from a western. All sweaty the captain like it was bloody summer! They are fascists and they do not have a flag flying anywhere? There most have been a better movie out there. Besides the whole idea of a foreign language film is to award a foreign film, not a Hollywood production with Spanish acting (lousy in my opinion). I guess the Oscars are not what they once where then…
Sorry, but i believe you have no imagination. Im not sure where flags come in to it, they weren’t fascist enough for you because they weren’t flag waving? I think thats out of the way of the point of the story my friend. And another thing, Mexicans are pretty much all of Spanish blood.. Retard. But despite your racist comments on Latino people.. You also said “The whole idea of a foreign language film is to award a foreign film” Not all of us are native to Spain, you do not sound like you are either? So it was filmed somewhere else? How many English/American films are made in other places? LOTR, New Zealand? But its still in English so therefore doesnt deserve any awards?
On another note..
The film went automatically in to my top three favourite films ive never seen such an amount of imagination compressed in to one film! Del Toro is a madman!! Genius!! This film captured everything in a fairy tale i ever wanted, making the trashy “Brothers Grimm” even more shameful.
