BitTorrent sites sell up
Written by Ernesto on November 14, 2006Some of the largest BitTorrent sites on the web have decided to sell their sites to Searching Unlimited LTD. They will work together in an effort to monetize the BitTorrent search engines, and create more innovative projects.
Bushtorrent, Demonoid, MyBitTorrent, Fenopy, Snarf-it, Torrentportal and Torrentreactor are the sites that have already teamed up so far, and more sites are expected to follow. Searching Unlimited LTD, the parent company is still negotiating with some of the most popular BitTorrent sites that might join in the near future.
John from Searching Unlimited LTD, one of the masterminds behind the project told TorrentFreak that he is happy that he was able to bring these brilliant people together and recruit some of the web’s most gifted engineers.
Although the sites are sold to Searching Unlimited LTD, the site owners stay in charge of daily operation.
John Gotts explained:
All BitTorrent admins who sell their site will own a part of Searching Unlimited LTD, the parent company. However, they all will continue to own and operate the site they sell us. Additionally they will get pay and advertising revenue share of both their old company and any new projects they help create or support.
Gotts added that the great thing about this initiative is the brain trust that they are creating at Searching. “It’s a family of companies, and the huge amount of traffic we generate, together with the genius people who are involved, make it a very powerful family”.
BitTorrent sites make up for a significant portion of the total Web traffic. Teaming up all these high traffic BitTorrent sites (combined with their other projects) will instantly make them a big and powerful player on the online advertising market.

I have noticed better ads on these sites, less annoying popups too. They also seem to be faster. I wonder if Searching is getting them better servers?
However, OMG, all the porn is gone! I hope this is just temporary!
The porn can now be found at http://nuTorrent.com as the advertisers will not allow it on the sites. You can also check out http://boobTube.com for adult Web search. By putting Adult torrents all in one place, nuTorrent.com will become the largest adult torrent site on the Web.
The sites WILL become faster as we add more servers and optimize as well.

The great thing about so many trackers it that its such a hard legal target. I feel like all this merging makes it a piece of cake for some one nastygram to take down the lot of ‘em.
Although, putting all these sites under one rule makes them a better target for the Nazis (mpaa ect).
Not sure if what you people are saying that it’s gonna be easier for the MPAA/RIAA to shut dem down, since now that they stand together they probably won’t buckle under the pressure. Plus, if they shut down some sites, others will take their places almost overnight. But I miss suprnova :,(
Expect the lawyers to have a field day with this. You’ve got a US based company now owning some large public / semi-private torrent sites with the explicit intention of making money from them. There’s gonna be demands for DMCA takedowns and demands for filters.
Remember Grokster? No profiting from piracy if you’re encouraging it. load up any of these sites and the front page is full of pirated stuff.

All that money off of helping people DL porn and Warez. :) Only in America, these pages dont even offer the product! I think you should paypal people who upload the content, say .1 cent per download. It would really invigorate the market. FOR PORN.
