Bizarre Virus Threatens to Kill File-Sharers
Written by enigmax on March 01, 2007A strange virus which taunts file-sharers and threatens to report them to the police and even kill them, is being distributed on the Winny network.
The virus has two variants Troj/Pirlames-A and Troj/Pirlames-B, masquerades as a screensaver and attacks files with these popular extensions - EXE, BAT, CMD, INI, ASP, HTM, HTML, PHP, CLASS, JAVA, DBX, EML, MBX, TBB, WAB, HLP, TXT, MP3, XLS, LOG, BMP - overwriting them with images of comic book character Ayu Tsukimiya.
It’s reported that one of the images, which includes a song about fish-shaped pancakes stuffed with jam, has a telephone number included although it’s unclear to whom the number belongs.
Another exclaims “This is a visit from the prevalent Piro virus! Stop P2P! If you don’t i’ll tell the police!” while another threatens “Ah, I see you are using P2P again……if you don’t stop within 0.5 seconds, i’m going to kill you!”
Graham Cluley, a consultant for Sophos said of the virus “This is one of the most bizarre pieces of malware we have seen in our labs for quite some time, but it’s data-destroying payload is no laughing matter. It acts as a timely reminder to companies that they may want to control users’ access to P2P file-sharing software not just because they can eat up bandwidth, but also because they can present a security risk to your corporate data.”
Winny is the most popular P2P application in Japan. In 2006 the developer of the Winny file-sharing software was found guilty and fined 1.5 million yen for assisting users in copyright violations.

Hah, this is really quite funny. I feel sorry for the innocent people that have had their files erased by this virus. My advice as always: Don’t use Windows.

Just so you guys know windows isnt that retarded. No one bothers writing viruses for macs because no one uses them. IDIOT!
If you go about downloading tons of crap and if your the type that click on various links to many sites. You’ll be the one to get infected.
Educate yourself and you’ll have no problems with windows and viruses. For those that don’t, windows is not for you.
Windows does suck, even though I do in fact use it. the trick is knowing how to go to your administartion folder and shut down any and all automatic updates, system restore programs and various other componants. those are some of the weakest links to windows. Also as was metioned above; go randomaly opening porn sites and unknown places all over the web and you will get a virus for sure. I had a bad one that I had to reformat and learn how to really make windows work for me. Just look and read. there are plenty of helpfull blogs to learn things that microsoft would rather you didn’t know.
Well, hear me now, i don’t beleive that you never even once had any viruses etc. I just don’t think you speak the truth.
I’ve read Mac forums/mags for nearly 20 years, and no one tells about a virus. yeye, anyways.

Mac/linux wont get affected by viruses because of the file system >,

MS is the most used OS in the world and with that as start it did become the most interesting OS to approach for any reason of scripting.

The first Windows version was released to the public in 1994 (orginally sheduled for 1993)
And it was not even an operating system at that point.
Mac will join intel and using windows product soon mac will using window operating system.
Windows users should always use a computer condom… firewall on, antivirus application active and updated weekly… anti-spyware apps active and all the other stuff… that your Mac running an updated and current OSX does not really need.

OSX wasn’t in use in 1989, you lack-witted macluebie. It was first released in a client configuration in 2001.
So much for Windows being ’stupid’. You’re so fucking dumb you don’t realise that viruses will always be written for the most popular operating systems, not the hobbyist OSes..
I just love it when know-nothing lusers try to be ‘net-kewl’ & just end up embarassing themselves in front of tens of thousands of people. What a fucking moron!
