Here in Brazil i think they bribe (ilegally, undergroung without anyone
suspecting that) the (civil) police to do that, to illegally trap the
phones and the webs (man in the middle) for suspects even for a decade
or more, in continuing montoring and violating any civil rights, privacy
or human rights whatsoever! Since here in Brazil the state are in the
final breathing of a ultra corruption government and autorities.

Plus apps for these devices are cheep compared to desktop. I think this is the happy medium between getting free shit and paying for it. If that makes sense.

Also, with the rise of smartphones and tablets, software put out by Microsoft, Adobe etc. is also falling too since no one is using their products on these devices

Exactly.

For a snitch to get a reward, there has to be a settlement. If there’s only a judgment but no settlement, then no reward. I’m guessing if there’s cases where the BSA is going after someone for $500,000, there’s not going to be a willing settlement, just a default judgement with no hopes of ever recovering any money at all

It’s not just employers the BSA goes after, it’s individuals as well.

I agree though, no willing employee rats out their current employer, they go after the company that screwed them over though, which is what the BSA is probably hoping for.

So, in other words, unless a settlement is reached, the snitch gets nothing. And if someone’s being sued for $500,000, my guess that there’s never a settlement, only a default judgement where the BSA or any of the software companies who’re going after pirates actually never get a dime.
