I received one this morning and was disconnected for about a minute or so. Optimum said it had contacted me several times, yet I never received any word until now. I do have a bunch of roommates, so they could have gotten the prior warnings, but herein lies the problem: Optimum has no way to tell who in the network is infringing copyright.

There’s another option too.
Lay your own fiber-optic line linkages. Neighbor-to-Neighbor Internet. All you need is a flat shovel and a long line of fiber-optic cable, and a couple of transitional Internet connection boxes (so the network connection can keep running even if no computers are acting as servers). In this case a cheap mini-Linux box would operate as the always-on server pass-through junctions.

For jumping the curb (or going under the street) the obvious answer is a minimum of 4 dedicated pass-through WIFI nodes to the next curb.

I don’t work for Optimum, but I do work for another telecommunications giant, and I can tell you from personal experience that even when a ton of people call in to grouch and “Get this to the CEO” no matter how hard we try its nearly impossible to get something to escalate beyond the call center that particular person works for. It blows.

You have no idea how UNBELIEVABLY ignorant and hilarious it sounds when you say something like what you just said. Law clerks would go home and tell it to their families as a joke. So I say again: PLEASE CITE YOUR SOURCES! Otherwise you end up coming to hilarious conclusions and you mislead people.

If you want to oppose this on moral grounds then that’s fine! You’d probably be right, but stop saying that somehow the courts and u.s. law has your back when you can’t even provide evidence that they do.
