Excellent idea. How about we claim that the department of internal affairs (who are probably the ones that monitor it) have been involved in file sharing or downloading copyrighted material? They'll get the chop, then watch them bleat. I hope the whole thing blows up in their face big time. It wouldn't take much of an effort to make this happen.

Där är det planerat att man nästa månad införa “Section 92 of the Copyright Amendment Act”, vilket innebär att misstänka fildelare är skyldiga tills man bevisat motsatsen.
The sad irony about this law is that it was passed by a Labour govt which seems to have believed it was protecting the rights of artists (after all, the front-person for the policy was Judith Tizard, who has done a huge amount to promote NZ art). But the law was shaped by the MPAA & RIAA's local lobby groups, and similar industry lobbies (rather than groups who represent actual artists). Tizard et al seemed oblivious to the distinction.

Local ISPs and net commentators almost universally condemned the law, and are still doing so. But in the mainstream media the issue has generally been framed as one of protecting artists from pirates, which is why I"m so glad Creative Freedom have now launched their campaign (this week they're starting to make waves in newspapers and on TV news).

But Mark R. - are you kidding? Yes, Labour deserved to lose votes over this (and may have done so - after all, Tizard lost her seat!). But now we have a right-wing govt which is even more supportive of corporate property 'rights'. I hope I'm wrong, but I fear it'll be even harder to change this law, under the new National-ACT govt. Sigh...

The problem is that morals are entirely subjective and dpend on the individual or groups. Another individual or group will think that some act or belief is morally reprehensible.

Morals are also highly dependent on what the circumstances are as well as individuals. For example: you and me may well think that stealing is wrong but the starving homeless person will have a different moral viewpoint. Slavery is widespread and continues to this day in Africa - it's viewed as morally acceptable by some, perhaps due to lack of resources.

And also, what is "true" is a highly subjective topic as it is built on moral imperatives. In my own country, native people were viewed as animals. not humans, and hence were treated as such. The "truth" 60 years ago to the majority or peope is that blacks were not human's and had the same status as cattle, sheep and kangaroos.

You have a habit of attributing words and statements to me that I never produced: I never said "slavery or eating babies "okay" as long as one thinks that it is okay." or even implied that.

The fact is that what people think is not necessary what is <i>true</i>. If you do not think that slavery or eating babies is okay, even when one thinks it is okay, then morals exist objectively. Even if they do not actually exist, the fact is that it is certainly not best to jettison morals <i>as is</i>, and these morals condemn both slavery and the imposition of copyright on non-commercial activities.

Wow another hilarious law, it'll be easy for any country to shut down NZ by sending Copyright infringement accusation letters to all the IP originating from NZ. And viola the idiotic politicians have prevailed. Sucks to be in NZ tho, I'll take my business elsewhere.

A much better idea is simply a well-funded public education on why this "guilty upon accusation" is a bad idea.

gz, we got the same levy round here but since 2008 you're no longer allowed to use "obviously illegally created or distributed material" for copying, so it's basically useless -.- (you can't really be prosecuted for downloading but still sux = /)

Get them back!

Once the law is passed I plan to accuse the RIAA and the government of illegal file sharing. Then their websites will be shut down. Hey - it'll be perfectly legal ;)

<i>the websites he posted show links to creepy hentai</i>
... no. They aren't direct links (well, this pretty much shows how desperate you are, since I linked to a Kannazuki no Miko fanart blog, not to those sites), and, it seems like it is fanart of teenagers and adults in yuri romance series, or something.

<i>roze has revealed himself to be the cliche nerd, blah blah blah...</i>
I don't know where you get this from, but you sure have a strange imagination.

<i>and then he has the nerve to preach about morality. what a joke. </i>
Looks like you lack your own, so you try to discredit others by randomly slandering them, since you have no legitimate points of your own.

This is kinda pathetic Free Lunch Brigade: you have proved nothing because Roze didn't link to any material as you accused him - as you just pointed out, they were links off pages, not what Roze posted you dumbass:

"and here are some pages that were DIRECT LINKS off the websites YOU POSTED:

h..p://yuriyuri(dot)sakura(dot)ne(dot)jp/ (1 click off the main page!)
h..p://rinrin(dot)saiin(dot)net/~torao/ (1 clicks off the main page!)
h..p://yuriyuri(dot)sakura(dot)ne(dot)jp/sonohana(dot)html (2 clicks off the main page!)

this stuff is downright creepy roze."

So frikkin what? I find goths creepy but so what? The fact that nobody else made any comments regarding that content seems to indicate that nobody else found it offensive, illegal or whatever you're trying to point out. It seems you're the kind of person that can't view material depicting child-like figures without associating them with sexual acts committed in reality is what that tells me - I mean, why else are you creeped out?

"the only thing it tells me is that your right to be around children should be abolished."

You're a moronic f*cktard in that case. P*ss off.

It seems you're the kind of person that can't view material depicting child-like figures without associating them with sexual acts is what that tells me - I mean, why else are you creeped out?.

"the only thing it tells me is that your right to be around children should be abolished."

You're a moronic f*cktard in that case. P*ss off.

What the hell... OK.

Once again I'm denying nothing despite your accusations - point out where I did if you can - so calling me a villain is kinda silly IMO.

Morality is an entirely subjective thing and calls to "morality" as you see it mean precisely nothing because of that. Morality is defined by religions for example: if you are Muslim or Jewish it is immoral to consume pork - but that doesn't make it immoral for anybody not subscribing to those faiths despite the fact that Muslims might say to me: "You refuse to see morality as it is, in your immoral and deluded mind." like you did. You can preach that to as many copyright holders as you wish: none of them will or are obliged to take notice of you're views of what is moral or not because it has nothing to do with the fact that current laws in many places allow them to begave as they do.

There is no such thing as "higher reality" - reality is what it is, there can only be one instance of it, not lower and higher "versions". What do you mean by "higher reality". What do you mean by "higher law" for that matter - no point in rattling off catchphrases: laws are intended to be precise, discrete statements to avoid confusion.

"it is indeed not merely I, but the higher reality which affirms the self-evident nature of this truth. The only thing that is appalling is your denial of morality."

A higher reality - a term that means precisely nothing because it is so vague aside from the fact that is a completely abstract concept with no bearing on any entities actions, so it affirms precisley nothing and exists in your own mind and has nothing to do with real life. And again, I denied nothing...

Is it just me or is Roze starting to sound like a street preacher that has lost his mind? All the calls to a "higher morality" and "higher reality" and accusing people of delusion and lack of morals is really... raving?

How about you actually do something in the real world that copyright holders, lawmakers and voters will take notice of - however if you approached any of those entities with the tripe that you just wrote you would be ignored as some kind of raving lunatic. Sorry, but that's just how I see that.

Now I admit i have very very very verrrrry little idea of Japanese cartoons/hentai but its my understanding that these cartoons are supposed to be of adults with (child like) innocent faces?
I really dont think these are of kids... but with my limited knowledge, feel free to correct me.

=================================
roze has revealed himself to be the cliche nerd. a loser who jacks off to cartoons of underage looking girls. i bet when he's not sharing his tin foil hat soliloquies he's probably hanging out around playgrounds sharing candy.
=================================
Thats a real personal attack on a person... and i dont think in very good taste or very well founded... but it might be your next line that explains why:

"and then he has the nerve to preach about morality. what a joke. "

Sounds like being as out spoken as he is, he has ruffled a few feathers ;-)
could that be the reason? to discredit one of the most vocal commentators on this (and other sites)?

While I dont really know Roze (so i cant really 'vouch' for him one way or the other) I do know the people he complains about: the music industry, RIAA/MPAA/IFPI etc who are real low down scumbags who would pimp there own mother for a 2c increase on CD prices and one extra lobbied law.... that they have no morals is an understatement... the same can be said for those who associate with the above mentioned b@stards low life douchebags as well.

Cheers!

ROFL. Speaking of reality: what the hell is "the moral law of nature", where do I find infomation of this set of laws that "holds always"?. And there is no "higher law than the law of the land".

I didn't deny anything either BTW.

And how can people "restore the natural law" ... I'll assuming your talking of making the copying of IP lawful for non-commercial use. But in that case seeing as it was never legal to do that ever since the inception of copyright law (aside from "fair use" clauses) how exactly do you propose to restore it?

easy enough, everyone in NZ needs to keep filing complaints that all organizations that work with the RiAA are Guilty. Keep filing false complaints until all organizations in NZ are removed from the net..

There is a higher law than the law of the land, and that is the moral law of nature, which holds always. You can deny the self-evident natural moral laws all you wish, but reality is reality all the same. When they transgress this morality, it is indeed time to put them back in their place - and when there is no law codified to do so, the people must act in its place to restore the natural law.

"This is kinda pathetic Free Lunch Brigade: you have proved nothing because Roze didn't link to any material as you accused him - as you just pointed out, they were links off pages, not what Roze posted you dumbass:"
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

wrong. the websites he posted show links to creepy hentai. these were direct links. direct correlation. this is not a difficult concept.

It seems you're the kind of person that can't view material depicting child-like figures without associating them with sexual acts committed in reality
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

lol! i'm not "associating" anything. did you even look at the links? many of the pictures are undeniably, overtly sexual and many of them were undeniably, overtly created to represent children (ie-young teenage girls, 13, 14,15...) everyone should find that creepy.
