As a protest if this retarded usage cap goes forward...everyone should stop paying their bills...now THAT would make them take notice. Especially if the current number of people who signed the open media petition did it at the same time!

I am a canadian and i highly doubt that this ruling will be squashed, remember we have an election coming and pm harper and his corporate stooges will not allow this money maker to disappear. They are the prime ministers financial backers and of course everybody knows that the conservative party is about big business , not individual freedoms for us-can anyone say fascism! The only way to ensure our freedoms is to remove those who would impose limitations on it, i hope your listening Mr. Prime Minister. Good luck come election time.

CRTC isin the pocket of big business lobbies. this is the same bunch who just ruled Wind Mobile has too much foreign ownership to set up a (cheaper, competitive) cellphone service in Canada. Bell, Rogers. etc. want to keep their high priced Canadian monopoly. now, if we could just rally this kind of support against the purposed new copyright laws (Bill C32).

I am Canadian and I have followed the case of UBB for some time now. The Canadian did not (yet) overturn the CRTC decision, it told the CRTC to go back to the drawing board and come up with something else.

Listening to the chairman of the CRTC (Konrad von Finckenstein) it is clear to all of us that he does not want to change his tune. Instead he has agreed to delay the imposition of UBB rules by 60 days while he will review his decision.

The good part is that the Minister for industry (Tony Clement) made a very clear statement that he will overturn UBB if the CRTC does not change its mind after the review process. One question remains though, what will the minister do if the CRTC comes back with UBB under another name? What about a compromise that will have the same effetc as UBB? Will the minister then feel that the new deal is different enough from the original proposal to suddenly change his mind?

The big telecom corps have been granted 60 days to put as much pressure on the minister as they can. They have 60 days to spread misinformation in the public to maybe change the mind of the population...

It's not over until the fat lady sings!

I'm happy it's overturned. I called my ISP yesterday to cancel my subscription starting march first. When it will be official I will call back to reinstate my subscription. I cancelled my cable from Bell longtime ago because of there unfair pricing I was willing to give up on Internet service as well.
