P2P games... you know.. xbox live. IjjI network.. these all have huge player bases (in the tens of millions if not hundreds) you dont think that could eat up bandwidth? Hell, streaming is a huge bandwidth consumer.

Just wondering, I have charter cable and I have experienced no problems, but could a VPN solve the block?

I shouldn't be, but I'm shocked at how some of you have such conflicting opinions. I see a lot of 'boo hoo, US is becoming totalitarian!' when this ruling is exactly the opposite. All it says is that the FCC doesn't currently have the power to regulate ISPs networks. This is a GOOD thing.

The ruling has nothing to do with whether comcast should throttle bittorrent, the court only pointed out that the government entity does not presently have the power to tell comcast not to. Even if you think they should have that power, you should be glad the court isn't allowing them to do whatever they want regardless of what power they actually have. They can still request that power from congress.

Without understanding Administrative Process, none of you can truly appreciate the significance (or lack thereof) of this ruling.

The main reason the court ruled the way they did is because the FCC tried to regulate Comcast by squeezing them into a category of companies that they are allowed to regulate in the manner in which they proposed to regulate Comcast.

All the FCC has to do is rewrite their own rules so that they can control Comcast's behavior in this manner. It's that simple, and it will happen. The FCC looks at this as a blow to their legitimacy, and they will end-around this recent ruling. And they won't necessarily have to go to Congress to get the power, so long as they can support their rulemaking in this regard under one of the powers already granted to them by Congress.

No worries.

This is bullshit, FCC is directly responsible to Congress but most of them suck off the corporate teat. Of course the conserative corporatist who love crony capitalism support this 100%. Just like they supported the Supreme Court decision to allow UNLIMITED corporate money to buy political ads.
