Demonoid Tracker Moves to Ukraine
Written by Ernesto on March 16, 2008Demonoid, once one of the most popular BitTorrent trackers, has reappeared again, this time hosted in Ukraine. The website is still down but the trackers are now fully operational again, perhaps a sign that Demonoid is crawling back up to speed?
In June 2007 Demonoid was pressured to leave their host in the Netherlands, mainly because of legal threats from the Dutch anti-piracy outfit, BREIN. The site then relocated to Canada, but after threats from the CRIA, it decided to shut down there as well.
A month ago we reported on the brief resurrection of the Demonoid tracker in Malaysia. At the time we hinted at the possibility that the site could perhaps be planning a comeback. Unfortunately the tracker went offline again after a few days. With no official response from the Demonoid team, it remains a mystery what the reason behind the resurrection was.
Now, a month later, the Demonoid tracker is again responding. Just over a week ago, Demonoid torrents began to work again, this time being tracked from Ukraine.
The new host of inferno.demonoid.com is the Ukrainian ISP Cocall Ltd, while the frontend of the site still remains in the US. Again, there is no official explanation for the return of the tracker, although many hope that it’s a sign that the site will be fully up and running soon.
Last December, Demonoid’s founder Deimos spoke about the future of the site: “Money is an issue, but the real problem at the moment is finding a suitable place to host the website. There has been no luck there.” Perhaps he now found his safe harbor in Ukraine?

It doesn’t matter how much the US has made, it’s still run by overly religious nutjobs and a crap ass country. At least in Europe no one cares who you have sex with, it’s that persons private affairs so if a gov. leader wants a mistress they don’t care. They intelligent enough to know that political leaders don’t equate to moral leaders.

@Jon, you have got to be joking. Only the last century has America been of great influence. You can be proud of America, sure enough, but all that games, hardware you speak of is because of Europe’s science. The Industrialization started in the UK, remember? And I’m quite able to recognize European influence is mostly because of the UK, Rome, Greeks, Egypt, the middle-east. And a pinch of gunpowder form China.
The once-greatness of America is lost, clearly portrayed by the insanity and mindless behavior the USA is showing. If America is so strong, and influential, why does it debt ever increase? why does the Dollar fall? Why will Venezuela start selling oil in euros?
Probably because the time, or age, of America is ending. But America seems to be quite willing to go out with a bang. Who knows, maybe they can achieve world domination and fascism, Oceania style, well before they are insignificant.

I’d be wary of this reappearance given the amount of unexplained ukrainian activity I’ve seen on torrents recently.
Can anyone think of anything more petty to argue about? To The, or not to The…We should argue about what came first… The chicken or the egg. Can’t we all just get along?
