Demonoid Trackers Back Online, Site Still Down

Written by Ernesto on September 29, 2007

Demonoid.com mysteriously disappeared earlier this week, but there is hope. The website is still down but the trackers are now fully operational again, perhaps a sign that Demonoid is crawling back up?

demonoidThe demonoid downtime caused quite some controversy, especially after the popular Dutch news site nu.nl reported that the Canadian Recording Industry Association (CRIA) was responsible for the downtime.

We contacted both the CRIA and Demonoid’s ISP in an attempt to confirm the story, but they didn’t want to respond to these allegations. Both parties confirmed nor denied their involvement. In addition, we tried to get an official response from Deimos, the founder and the head admin of Demonoid, unfortunately without any result.

The general consensus in the Demonoid IRC channel now is that the downtime is caused by hardware issues, and that the site will probably return within a few days.

Others still think that the Canadian ISP took Demonoid offline after they received legal threats (from the CRIA), but this is just speculation at this point. Demonoid’s ISP said earlier that it would not hesitate to pull the plug on Demonoid if they had to, however, this explanation is less plausible now because the trackers still run on the same IP. This indicates that the servers are still hosted by their Canadian ISP.

It is great to see that the second largest BitTorrent tracker is back in action. Thousands of torrents stopped responding when the tracker went down, frustrating over a million BitTorrent users. I guess it’s time to finish these torrents.

”An unverified IRC chat was posted at The Circuit Box, which claimed to be a discussion between a TorrentFreak reporter and a Demonoid staff member. This was released approximately 18 hours after the site went offline:

“Ok folks, here it is. Demonoid is down. It has been for around 2 day [sic] almost. The reason it is down is unknown, and is still unknown. It HASN’T I repeat HASN’T been RAIDed, shutdown, terminated, deleted, burned, mamed [sic], or thrown under a bridge.”[7]

On Saturday September 29 2007 at 1:43pm GMT, the Demonoid trackers were back online, although the site was still off-line.”

If you have already created links/started downloading 3days ago, those seeders and peers will be sharing the files with you; you cannot download anything new till demonoid comes up.. the already connected seeders and peers for the downloaded/uploaded material will continue to exist/functional.

READ THE TITLE.

“Demonoid Trackers Back Online, Site Still Down”

^ That is the title of this page. The title of this page answers the question that you have asked three times. I think you asked it three times atleast, but your name is “Anonymous”.
I’ve never seen so many people angry over free stuff. The nerd rage is incredible.
Anyone who spends their time insulting random people for no good reason over the internet has serious problems that they probably don’t know about or deny.

It’s a scam people.. “they” are harvesting ip’s from the tracker.

DON’T go to the forum, you’ll get booted for asking questions by people who ARE NOT recognised moderators. Something very suspicious is going on and it is further reinforced by the fact the Deimos hasn’t made a statement and the there is no notification page.

Demonoid is down perminantly and the resources are now controlled by the man… you have bee WARNED!

HERE COMES DEMONOID: Its a tool for any individual, who cannot afford to buy these now. But could access, evaluate, learn, become something in life and buy tonns of such material.. I am a fan of Anthony Robbinns,Dr.Brian Weiss,NLP Authors,Brain Sync Meditation sessions,Harvard Business Reviews, and Music Audio Engineering Recordings.I keep learning every day something new through demonoid. Only mods can ban you from the forums.

Torrentfreak went down a few days ago for a bit and Ernesto didn’t say anything about it. That proves that anti piracy companies now own torrentfreak and are going to sue us for going a file sharing site!

/sarcasm

You are not very smart, are you?

You’re taking no more risk using demonoid as a tracker then you are using TPB, Torrentbox, Zerotracker, etc as a tracker.
