The Pirate Bay: Demonoid is Welcome in Sweden
Written by Ernesto on January 16, 2008After two months of downtime, it is still uncertain whether Demonoid will ever return. However, if it is up to The Pirate Bay, it will. The Pirate Bay has recently offered 2 servers to the Demonoid team, in Sweden of course.
Will Demonoid ever return? That was the question we asked last December. There was some hope for the thousands of Demonoid users when Deimos, the founder of the site, said that he was looking for a new location to host the popular BitTorrent tracker. He said: “Money is an issue, but the real problem at the moment is finding a suitable place to host the website. There has been no luck there. And there’s some personal stuff I need to take care of that takes most of my time at the moment, and that does not help.”
It now seems that there’s some good news for Deimos as The Pirate Bay is offering their help. In fact, they claim to have two servers lined up for Demonoid already. Pirate Bay’s Brokep made this public in a recent interview on the Subdemon techcast where he said: “We tried to contact the guys behind Demonoid and we’ve set up a tracker for them but they haven’t responded. But, we have two servers running for them if they want to set it up.” Brokep also says that he hasn’t heard back from Deimos yet, but it sure is a great gesture.
If Demonoid decides to take them up on their offer they will not be alone. In 2007 quite a lot of torrent sites moved to Sweden, and to PRQ in particular. Sweden is considered to be a safe haven for BitTorrent sites, and PRQ is popular because it is owned by TiAMO and Anakata, two of the founders of The Pirate Bay. Ironically, however, The Pirate Bay is not hosted in Sweden or at PRQ, which is probably a wise decision.
In the remainder of the interview Brokep and the interviewers discuss some of the recent news surrounding The Pirate Bay, such as the huge pile of paperwork they received last month, the new protocol they have been developing, and the explosive growth of their tracker. It is definitely worth listening to, and I’m looking forward to the next episodes of this podcast, and to more news surrounding Demonoid.

It just recorded your ratio (though not very well), it didn’t hold them accountable. It didn’t punish anyone for bad ratios.

seems like the authorities are backing everyone into the corner that is sweden, and then when all the biggest torrent sites are there (which they nearly all are) they will press as hard as possible to get rid of them and then there will be mayhem

I really hope Demonoid comes back. They had the best high-quality torrents, by far.
This is great news. Lets just hope if Demonoid did make a comback in the future, it will be just as good as it was.
Without Demonoid, bit torrent just hasn’t been the same. I’m sorry fellow OinKers, the loss of Demonoid was a far greater hit to bot-torrent, than the loss of OinK. You could tell just by he number of .flac albums being shared on dump sites when it was alive after OinK, than compared with now. Not that, that is a good measure, but it is a small example. Demonoid was the best,period.

Just make sure when we “retards” find a new home, and make it as great as Demonoid once was, that you stay the fuck off my .flac torrents you prick. Demonoid didn’t need scum like you.
You were probably kicked off for a shitty ratio, or never let on, because your attitude sucks. Those with a low ration, were delt with accordingly. We’re not sorry your low ratio wasn’t welcome, you leeching pile of dung.

regardless of every thing deimoos contentiously refused to do the wise thing and keep his community at comfort
he’s leaving everything up to speculations as its a big conspiracy and hes the one that understand it all
would’ve been nice of him to visit the subdemon forums and post some comforting posts every now and then rather than vague meaningless replies
there’s without a doubt people who donated for that community and they deserve to be comforted or at least to feel that the site they donated to appreciated there gesture
I hope demios takes up the offer, Demonoid was the best torrent site by far!!
I would love to have access to all of those great audio books that demonoid once gave me access too….
