Supposedly these are the only three two-reel popeye cartoons by Fleischer’s Studios that are in Technicolor. Note that these are just Fleischer cartoons. As a big Popeye fan as a kid, I know for a fact that there were more than three colour Popeye cartoons. While I can’t name the episodes, I do remember when the series switched from b+w to colour, back in the late 60s (reruns, of course). I even bought a DVD full of Popeye cartoons a couple of years ago. In fact, a Google AdSense Popeye ad for The Vintage Theatre mentions 230 episodes on 8 DVDs. I’ve embedded the classic “Ali Baba” episode above. It’s ~16 minutes long, and be forewarned that many of the old cartoons had racial stereotyping. Below is Camp Chaos anime parody of Popeye. [...]
