Your argument "a)because each country has different laws regarding sales taxes, currency, etc." is pretty weak.
There are many thousands of online stores that sell worldwide without problems. There is no real reason that they could not offer tv shows and movies worldwide from the same sites they sell to americans from. The only reason they can't/won't is because of the licensing restrictions that they have themselves placed on the content.

They still do not get it that is why, they still continue to refuse to accept the reasons why people pirate stuff and just repeat the same old rubish about how downloading is stealing. Well they can repeat that all they want but it will not change a thing.
Most of the world still does not have a reasonable and accessible way to get the the latest content legally, and the options that do exist are completely unable to compete with what piracy has to offer - and I don't just mean the price.

“Why? Because it’s easy to steal something that, in physical form, exists only as data, and easy to justify stealing it as a result? Because information wants to be free, no matter the cost it took to produce or its creators’ judgments about how best to disseminate it? Because anything is fair game once it’s on the Internet?”

This paragraph is full of logic problems.

Copying is NOT stealing because you don't deprive the original owner of their possession. Data does NOT exist in any physical form. It's an arrangement of energy. To imply physical form means that it has mass, substance, and can be physically taken. This is absolutely not applicable to an arrangement of volatile patterns of energy.

I do not add any additional expenses to the original production cost of the works by copying it. It costs the producers, and creators nothing at all. Especially because they aren't distributing it to me. Many bit torrent users are.

The only advice I have for Alex is, yes, information on the internet has NO expectation of privacy. Arguably this is one of the most significant and important catalysts that helped fuel the internet's explosive growth and adaptation.

A censored corporate controlled monopolistic network will never enjoy as much success as those that are not.

"Well that’s good news indeed, since after trying more than a dozen of the provided links with my non-US IP address I couldn’t find a single one which would let me watch anything . The Pirate Bay, however, has no geo-lockout. Another uncomfortable ‘reality’."

Not a bad idea except - it's all been tried. Here's why it won't work. This model cuts into the high margin of the main distributors who currently enjoy the ability to sell you the same content four or five times over.

Which, incidentally, is the reason why most TV show services are unavailable in other countries than the US. It would make sense and might make a killing. But the industry has repeatedly (and heavy-handedly) refused any option to see daylight which would disable their ability to distribute movies and shows in global regions six months apart.

I would claim that publishing and hyping a movie or show where everyone globally could see it, then waiting on launching it outside the US for half a year would more or less guarantee that everyone interested in watching it would simply download it instead.

The industry simply isn't interested. If they can make a million people pay 15$ five times over for the same product then they will gladly shell out 45 million $ to prevent any other solutions like the ones you describe from ever seeing daylight. Since the cost-benefit analysis they do doesn't even touch the reality which is rampant filesharing instead, they won't hear of possible alternatives.

Entrepreneurs have been trying to get around this by starting and launching similar solutions as the ones you describe. The only one's who've managed to avoid getting stepped on hard would be Apple and then most likely only due to the fact that Steve Jobs has better and far more hard-hitting lawyers than the MPAA could dream of.
