> artist

laughing_girls.jpg

> his own video

Nope - Well probably not anyway - The label usually owns the copyright in everything they release - That's what labels do to the unwitting schmucks they sign up to front their money-making schemes

> Hopefully he will wake up and go independent

Hopefully he will fade into obscurity very quickly (although sadly some other manufactured outfit will probably be there to replace him)

> the freaking point is that the copyright laws are blocking artist from freely showing their music

The point is that he very likely signed a contract which gave his label exclusive rights to whatever he produces whilst under that contract - It's the way of the music industry

> then where did all the record stores go?

Initially the big supermarkets took over and by selling music (nd other goods such as clothes and electronics) - Then came the online retailers such as Amazon - iTunes - hmv.com - And many more

People are lazy and will purchase as much as they can from a single bricks-and-mortar outlet (such as supermarkets) rather than visit several different stores - Or they will 'shop' from their computers if they are able

It's happening to almost every physical-goods industry - Books - Computers - Tools - Homewares - Groceries - Most anything can be bought online - And most everything is

Goodbye to high-streets - Hello to online-retail
