The fucked up and funny thing is if they would work this well across the borders to help make content cheaper and easier legally available they probably would have a lot less piracy to worry about!
Because, no matter if TV Shows or Films (Music a little less these days since we got the streaming services offering music for cheap prices already) ,trying to get good content easy and with a price tag that everyone can afford and is more willing to pay for!
Like Netflix and Hulu Plus .. We are looking forward to see whats on offer when Netflix will launch in Germany this fall if its like the rest of our streaming services plus their Original Programming and nothing more then they will have to do more then just a deal with Deutsche Telekom ( Who are as popular as Verizon or AT&T here ) to get passt Maxdome, Amazon Prime, Watchever and so forth.
House of Cards will not be part of Netflix in Germany due to licensing with Sky & Maxdome .. That brings back how fucked up all this shit is !

Reading this I had another Picard moment – facepalming – while groaning.

Because if you look at the last 4-5 years of filesharing it’s all been towards decentralization.

What they are saying is, in effect, that blocking advertising companes will end filesharing sites. Whereas almost every technological development is going toward ending the reliance on filesharing sites.

Read that again as well, please.

Given how bitcoin and parallell alternatives have developed nicely enough to accomodate the needs of economies on the order of, for instance, The Pirate Bay with ease, How the fuck will you stop people putting money into the hat of their favourite busker?

By abolishing money…or by ensuring no one an spend it without “vested interests” being able to see it spent?

Which in the end means – again – no one is allowed any privacy since everyone must be considered a potential criminal.

and yet again, the best and cheapest method, the one that would actually make the entertainment industries money instead of wasting it in trying to stop file sharing, isn’t even considered, let alone mentioned! this ‘sledge hammer to open a peanut’ approach is the only one they seem to understand, even though they know full well that it wont work! what i still think is the aim is the running of the net and give the USA government whatever information it wants due to the spying. whatever the aim is, it’s got absolutely fuck all to do with innovation or investment but is about this control the industries are hell bent on trying to get while making themselves look exactly what they are, useless bunch of decrepid arse holes who dont know when to quit!!

I resent that they put file-sharing and counterfeiting in the same category. These are two very opposed philosophies, one is criminal and deceiving and the other is progressive and democratic in nature. Now if the EU does not know which is which or if they think one is the same as the other then I say they don’t really represent the people.
