Bitcoin also much harder to trace for tax purposes. Taxation is a monitoring system as well as a revenue stream. The government does not like to lose any bit of control in these processes that it has been in so much control of. Bitcoin is a serious threat.

That or it will turn out to be a minor infraction that could have been cleared up easily if they had tried. Instead they just seized the cash and now will fight a nice long court battle with a Japanese company this time.
