They make enough money to cover ALL their costs (servers, design, programming, etc.) through programs like donations and ads. After that, stop (reduce/eliminate ads for a time, lower donation amounts, don’t pressure for donations, purchase better servers and have the site improved, etc.) Instead, this man opted to try to make insane amounts of money from the work of others. It wasn’t about sharing, making up for unfair business practices, or any of the other justifications for file sharing. He’s just as bad as the big businesses; the only difference is they actually created/designed/recorded/whatevered the good.
