How about 50 cents to rent for a week and $2 to purchase since the file can easily be copied without any additional costs and also availability worldwide at the same time everywhere (and with this the “piracy” problem hold be solved or at least contained to a fringe factor)

And why didn’t you respond to the part of 4 years for running a torrent site and 5 – 10 years for murder or the waste of taxpayer money for the defense of the privately owned

I think it show that the law is being degraded by this kind of acts, until it will probably reach a point of no return and them who knows what will happen

Yes, running a torrentsite of a Tor hidden service is possible.

Since a torrent site is only necessary for discovery of info hashes, you could even use email, messenger and other low bandwidth solutions for exchanging the hashes.

But the aanonymous nature of Tor is in tension with the egotist mentality of most private site owners. They want to know a lot about you, and the amount of often very personal info these sites expect you to provide is unbelievable

Remember that a lot of private site owners are in the game – not for sharing but for money. On a lot of these, you get better leech ratio when you pay – not the actual seeder but the site owner. If that aint making money directly of copyright infringement, I don’t know what would qualify as commercial scale.

I have asked before and never gotten any answer: Why should I pay a third party for leeching data from another’s computer.

Bob wants a file. Alice has the file and upload a torrent file to a discovery site.

It’s logical that the community wants to increase the spirit of sharing, and therefore there are leech rules. But a lot of sites take money permitting the users to leech more, but none of the money go to the seeder but only to the site owner. The site owner gets the cut, but
the seeder gets nothing.

You are sooo dumb and believe USA is the whole world, cheapest rental price here is 9.83 USDollar for a recent DVD, blueray is 13.11 USDollars for rental, buying is more than dubble… so how more expensive do you want it to be??
