Fox advises to share shows

Written by Ernesto on November 13, 2005

Missed a tv-show? Just find a peer who taped it! At least that’s what Fox says on their website.

So good news for all tv torrent addicts out there.

From the Fox site:

8. Can I get tapes of FOX Network Primetime Shows sent to me?

ANSWER:
The FOX Network does not provide nor sell videos of any of shows, specials or movies that air on the Network.

Our recommendation is to ask co-workers, friends, family and neighbors for anyone who may have taped off-the-air the show you are looking for.

Just found this blog via a link. I just wanted to let you know that this may not exactly be the good news for torrent users that it seems. From a few sentences down in the FAQ:

Programs that have been recorded off the air cannot be sold or rented or forwarded to you via the internet without authorization from their copyright owner, so don’t be fooled if someone offers to sell or rent you a copy they’ve made – it’s an illegal transaction.

They doin’t want people paying over the net (like iPOD shows) and are likely betting that the casual user can find a pay-per-use site, but can’t figure out BTorrent.

They HAVE given permission, but they don’t want to explain every option in detail.
