We pay them that much? Who is “we”, Joseph? I don’t pay actors millions. I also don’t pay for movie tickets. Yet they still get paid millions. See the flaw in your thinking? As if anyone who sees the problem is contributing to it.

People pay for overpriced movie tickets because they are starved for entertainment. Yet movie theaters get hardly any of that money. That’s why concession stand prices are so exorbitant–that’s where they get their cut. It’s not up to the moviegoer to decide how the proceeds are distributed. You may as well claim that the concession stand workers deserve minimum wage because we don’t pay enough for concession stand items.

You oversimplify and misunderstand just like every other Ayn Rand lackey. It’s ridiculous for actors to make millions, period.

i think artists should be able to make what ever people are willing to pay. if it’s millions, then they get millions, if it’s nothing, then it’s nothing.

as long as we live in a society where it’s the norm for people to get paid for their work, why should we single out artists as the only ones who shouldn’t be paid for their work.

to me the issue isn’t a matter of if they should get paid, but how much. if you’re not happy with paying artists a ton of money, then don’t buy their stuff. simple as that.

they only get paid tons of money because we pay them that much.

Starring in 2-3 movies should not make you a millionaire. It is not really such hard work that you should be payed $5000 per hour… I remember reading a good book about a world where garbage men were payed that much because no one else would do that job. The city major had almost no money at all. Then again it was a childrens book so it had a strange kind of fairness.

Releasing music online should be the cos of marketing to get people to go to the concerts.

Yeah… Why do Hollywood actors make such incredible amounts of money? Who decided they need to make millions for a few weeks of work? I don’t get it. And half of them suck anyway. Same with music.

I’ve been asking the same for a while. Haven’t gotten any reflected answer yet. For many years in past history artists where most often not rich at all. Perhaps that’s the way it ought to be. I’d like to see some evidence for and against that idea.
