The idea is simple, Apple will include a torrent client in OS X. You will save Apple a lot of bandwidth by helping to distribute their software updates. Your reward: free goodies from the Itunes store. brilliant!.

It’s a perfect example how both companies and users can benefit from BitTorrent. You will donate a little bandwidth and the companies will save money. The losers are of course the ISP’s, who will restrict bandwith even more.

According to some of our oldest and most reliable sources within Apple’s software development sector, Mac OS X 10.5 “Leopard” will include a system-level “BitTorrent” filesharing client that can be user-customized to ‘donate’ upstream Internet bandwidth for things like pushing Software Update packages to Leopard users, delivering iTunes Store content, and just about any purpose to which Apple puts its bandwidth.
