Fuck this, this is getting beyond a joke now. The US and especially the UK are becoming police states, I hope and pray everyday that we will see revolutions across the world within the next decade, overthrowing these fascists and invoking true democracy, freedom of speech, freedom of expression and freedom of information. Personally I would rather live free or die, I refuse to participate in national ID cards, nationwide DNA databases or any of the other shit they try, why does the UK bang the USA so fucking much, listen to everything they say, we need a decent fucking prime minister is probably why.

I encourage all free peoples to use P2P software. The use of P2P software IS freedom, it is liberty, it is anti-fascism and it is morally right.

Live free or die - death is not the worst of evils.

Well, if I were you, I wouldn´t worry too much about all this.

The all ideia is completely impractical.

The amount of money, personnel and time, involved make it impossible to apply even for a small country.

The ISPS can´t and won´t obey this law because they know that if they do, their business will be out of business.

Internet users would start terminating their contracts.

If the game, movie and music industry has become so powerful up to the point that they can buy and control severall goverments.

Than it not only is your right to download and use internet content but it is your duty as an inteligent citizen of planet EARTH.

Live free.

We are NO better than the businesses and governments we create and allow to continue operating. These companies and governments are built from the people that make them up. after reading these comments, its very clear to me why over-reactionary politics is the only way to balance this polarizing issue.
lets not forget that file sharing came about in the hopes of fostering creativity and growing art without the help and influence of big business. Its just a shame that so much hate and divisiveness has been born out its development.
If people treated each other fairly and respected the true and original intention of file sharing, the government wouldn't see an opportunity for involvement. If the government didn't see an opportunity to become involved, big business couldn't use lobbyist to tip the scales unfairly in their own favor.
Our freedom and innovation carry with them their fair share responsibility and individual accountability. Basically, we blew it.

and the pendulum swings....

McCain's Whitehouse tenure would be nothing more than a direct extension of the Bush Administration, an administration which has destroyed more freedom and liberty on a domestic as well as global scale than any other in the history of the United States.

And you're trying to tell me Obama is just as bad? lulz, dick-for-brains. Get real.

Putting McCain in office is like trying to cure a terminal cancer patient by giving them more cancer. Putting Obama in office, on the other hand, is like trying to cure a terminal cancer patient by giving them a placebo. Yes, both solutions are pure bullshit, but one is alot worse than the other.

I am soliciting readers of TorrentFreak.com for support in a pledge to help me in an effort to reform copyright law and hand over power to the common person. I am trying to create an open discussion on what should be done.

    Here is the pledge:

just checking, but for the US to accept trade agreements, don't they have to be passed by the Senate?

Just checking...I know they just passed the telecomm immunity bill...but I'm hoping they wouldn't pass this...

Why not start a US Pirate party? You'd have to keep members names secret so they didn't get mysterious visits in the middle of the night, OTOH if you suspect an intruder at your door, and fear for your life just blow them away with a shotgun through the unopened door.

Many fake torrents could help make the FBI's existence a nightmare, or a terrorist attack will end all this nonsense (give FBI/CIA some real work)

You know who should be praying to God that ACTA doesn't pass?

The MAFIAA.

Because if ACTA passes, it will usher in a new generation of filesharing protocals that are so indecypherable they elude traffic-monitoring, and the only way to "combat" filesharing left to the MAFIAA at that point would be a complete shutdown of the entire Internet, which for a number of reasons, is not an option and never will be.

They MAFIAA can sleep easy, though, because ACTA was stillborn from Day 1. Or should I say, sleep a little easier, because that generation of filesharing still lies ahead. It just won't arrive quite as soon.

RushIsRight: "This is the type of change the dummycrats within the Obomanation (aka abomination) were speaking of. Think you've lost freedom now, just wait until the stalinist's and marxist's are in charge."

That's funny, considering that on the North American front, the war against personal freedom is a product of the Republican zeitgeist. Did you forget who the PATRIOT Act is the brainchild of, sweetums? Hint: It wasn't Al Gore.

Your game is to try and convince filesharers to vote for the wrong party by pretending that a McCain Whitehouse would be a shining beacon of freedom. When in reality, filesharers would practically be rounded up and put into camps(most likely without piddly little things like "warrents" and "evidence").

Obama: Let's postpone 1984.
McCain: Welcome to 1984.

What a shame Obama has to run on the Democratic ticket, though, because they're every bit as much worthless slugs as the Republicans are. However, they aren't even half as comitted to destroying lives and freedoms in the name of greed and imperium, so that's a few points for them.

I guessed you missed my point. I was trying to demonstrate the futility of accessing mp3 players and hard drives at customs checkpoints as a means of curtailing the proliferation of copywrong data. As for my being a coward, pretty harsh coming from one who does not know me. And a moron? unlikely at a 150+ IQ. I pick and choose my fights (something a non-moron is pretty adept at). As for resisting laws which violate privacy, I am better suited to provide for alternatives for other users to circumvent said laws until cooler heads prevail. While I am not sure what you would have me do in terms of resistance, but openly violating a law which will only land me in prison and/or deeply indebted does not seem like an appropriate solution to me. Perhaps you are all too willing to see others to sacrifice themselves to your cause. Kinda reminds me how Arafat was all too willing to have young Palestinian children strap on suicide bombs and sacrifice themselves for his cause. But he never seemed to get around to strapping one on for himself.

Funny that those things can be decided that quick, but when it's about problems like environmental pollution they keep talking around the dirt for years...
