We are NO better than the businesses and governments we create and allow to continue operating. These companies and governments are built from the people that make them up. after reading these comments, its very clear to me why over-reactionary politics is the only way to balance this polarizing issue.
lets not forget that file sharing came about in the hopes of fostering creativity and growing art without the help and influence of big business. Its just a shame that so much hate and divisiveness has been born out its development.
If people treated each other fairly and respected the true and original intention of file sharing, the government wouldn’t see an opportunity for involvement. If the government didn’t see an opportunity to become involved, big business couldn’t use lobbyist to tip the scales unfairly in their own favor.
Our freedom and innovation carry with them their fair share responsibility and individual accountability. Basically, we blew it.

I guessed you missed my point. I was trying to demonstrate the futility of accessing mp3 players and hard drives at customs checkpoints as a means of curtailing the proliferation of copywrong data. As for my being a coward, pretty harsh coming from one who does not know me. And a moron? unlikely at a 150+ IQ. I pick and choose my fights (something a non-moron is pretty adept at). As for resisting laws which violate privacy, I am better suited to provide for alternatives for other users to circumvent said laws until cooler heads prevail. While I am not sure what you would have me do in terms of resistance, but openly violating a law which will only land me in prison and/or deeply indebted does not seem like an appropriate solution to me. Perhaps you are all too willing to see others to sacrifice themselves to your cause. Kinda reminds me how Arafat was all too willing to have young Palestinian children strap on suicide bombs and sacrifice themselves for his cause. But he never seemed to get around to strapping one on for himself.

If such laws are pushed then they in turn would be pushing out other laws of privacy freedom. In this case, it looks like it will not be long before government agencies from across the world will have remote access to the privacy of your own home. As rediculous yet logical as this sounds, such laws soon may lead to things like it being a compulsory thing to have video surveylence through out EVERY ROOM OF YOUR OWN HOME. Privacy may soon become a thing of the past and PRIVACY alone may become AGAINST THE LAW!
