I have, on many occasions, bought a game and then downloaded a crack so I don’t have to put the disc in, so I can play it on my CD/DVD-less laptop, and so I can get it to work under Linux. Which is perfectly legal where I live.

In fact, this makes me reluctant to buy a game, since I don’t want to pay for something I might suddenly not be able to use.
