You do realise that we will have a big coalition again, right?

The CDU/CSU probably wont be able to form a coalition with the FDP because i really doubt that the FDP will recover in two years.

But at the same moment the SPD and Grüne dont have enough votes for a real government.
And the Piraten dont really want to enter a coalition.

So that leaves us with no government, or even worse a government which involves the SED/PDS/Linke.

Thanks Piraten!

I'll join you! *cheers*

The success of the Pirate Parties all over the world is just a symptom of all the corruption, greed we are seeing all over the world. In fact, we should share a toast for MAFIAA as they (unwillingly) have some major role in the popularization of the Pirate Parties.

Yes MAFIAA, keep pushing for draconian laws, keep destroying innocent ppl, keep being complete and utter asses. You will be the catalyst for the changes and for your own demise. *cheers*

Yes, and then again, No.

It's true that a political party with only a few ideas is not a good thing. However, the reason that such a party may thrive is because the parties delivering full coverage have now turned into one-size-fits-none solutions.

When any ordinary party you would ideally vote for contains two or three completely unacceptable goals, alternatively has proven itself unable to come through with or has betrayed one or more the goals many considered important then you achieve a paradigm where the citizenry will actively seek out any party which will at least try hard to implement a goal or two with which you can sympathize. I.e. a party with a narrow focus they are unable to obfuscate away.

People are just too tired of casting their votes for parties which treat important issues casually or with contempt.

This is a condemnation of the established parties more than anything else. By voting for a radical party you send a clear message to the older parties to shape up or be prepared to be thrown out. In this manner every vote thrown on the greens or for PP proved to be a pure win for active democracy.

It's either that or you end up continually giving your vote to an established power-that-be which has no motivation at all to improve it's connection to the voterbase and keeps on sliding down the slope sitting on laurels from times past.

Meh. Of course they'll fight. Like any other guild or cartel through history they'll do whatever they can possibly get away with up until the point where the major guild goes bellyup and leaves a small remnant fighting it out in a niched market.

Much like blacksmiths come the industrial revolution.

Progressive companies however, will take the Apple route. Providing easy plug-and-play solutions or designer goods for the sheeple and incorporating whatever open-source initiative is deemed the "next big thing" under the hood.

In the end I see a future for companies like Apple. I see none for copyright enforcement umbrella corporations such as Ifpi or the MPAA.

The open-source sector actually beats the boots out of any proprietary investment in IT today. Look at Ubuntu and how it's shaped up, say.

Meanwhile small to medium companies are making a killing providing competent tech support at reasonable rates to those who've dared make the switch to open source standards.

Development in IT doesn't require big investment. Hardware does but at least for the next century or so there will be major problems in creating your own high-end motherboard or cpu from a blueprint.

So far the pirate parties have a very solid foundation in financial liberalism and transparency which are in effect right-wing ideology.

That it's often confused with left-wing dogma is simply because we keep insisting on separation of state and market and a state for the people - instead of the other way around.
