Every DMCA take down request should be verified, not just a this link is likely infringing because its name matches a few words kind of thing. What if I wrap a bunch of my pictures I took with my digital camera in a .zip file, name it something like “the_avengers.zip”, it’s going to get hit with a DMCA take down request? I should have the right either prevent than from happening, or receive some sort of apology/compensation when/if it does happen. Because every time I waste reuploading stuff is a burden they impose on me, just because the word “avengers” is in the file’s name. That’s fucked up.

There needs to be some sort of penalty for when this happens. Corporations are just running bots that sent out automated take-down requests with no human intelligence behind it. Who knows how much money independent artists, content creators and software designers have lost due to these requests. But the copyright trolls don’t give a crap, because nothing happens to THEM if they make a mistake.
