As for your confusion, that’s probably because anti-piracy laws and measures are constantly changing all around the world in recent years.

Now for those “various studies” you refer to, unfortunately all those various studies also come up with wildly varying results and conclusions.

Windows 8. What a fucking joke. I tried the previews and could not stand it. Even Windows Explorer was missing functionality from 7 that I need. The mess of a UI is one thing, ‘perhaps’ I could get used to it, I don’t know, but when I found that something as basic as Windows Explorer was missing functionality from 7, I said ‘fuck it’ and repartitioned the Windows 8 disk. Then, a couple of days ago I was at a friend’s house and was a bit drunk. I sat down at his girl’s laptop running a release version of 8, and I was fucking lost. I couldn’t figure out how to do shit without her instructing me. Even Firefox had an alien interface. I finally said “fuck this shit, you need to install 7″ and they both agreed and said the OS was a HINDERANCE. I’m pretty tech savvy and could barely do shit on the machine with 8. I’d hate to see someone that doesn’t know much about PCs try to use it. Even drunk, navigating a computer is an easy task, but not with that garbage on it. Media talks about 8 adoption rates, but that’s only because they preinstall that shit on the machines. You get NO CHOICE of OS! I build my own (I’m poor and picky), but I wouldn’t buy a new machine with 8 if I was a billionaire. I’d demand 7 or I’d walk out the door. I’ll just build my own and buy a 7 license as long as it’s available. If not available, I’ll pirate it.
