Actually, thanks to Clinton and the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, sharing is illegal.
In fact, making a backup copy of your own movies or video games is illegal — even if you don’t share them with anybody. The act specifically states that bypassing copy protection is Illegal even if there is no infringement of copyright protection!
Democratic leaders have been in bed with the Entertainment industry for years on this copyright stuff. Somehow I suspect the loyal Democrats voting for these leaders disagree. But of course our professional politicians no longer represent what the people want. They just have nice speeches to get votes — so that they can do whatever they damn well please once in office.
And the people, short memories that we have, still vote these same leaders back into office for another term because of the spiffy re-election speeches.
Long ago Americans fighting for freedom were called terrorists. We didn’t line up like “civilized” men to let the British shoot us down in our rows. Maybe once again patriots will rise up to stand for freedom. Doubtless such brave men will be called terrorists.

Right on. Those counterfeit products are so dangerous to health and welfare. Bravo for our (now) socialist government to step in and protect us from this grave threat!
(Cough, cough). Say, sounds a lot like the Microsoft rhetoric on all of their anti-copy technology doesn’t it. Problem is, all of this crap only gets in the way of people who are doing things legally. The actual criminals will always find a way around whatever blocks you put up.
Whey doesn’t the government spend their effort fighting crime that really hurts people and let the corporations deal with copyright violations in civil court where this stuff belongs?
Maybe then we could actually make a dent in things like human trafficking, gang violence, and so many dangerous crimes the government can’t seem to get a good handle on.

Once again, the Federal Government is abusing it’s rights and targeting conservative groups with this! Can you believe that in the wake of the current IRS investigations???
Several conservative sites were seized in this “raid”, not because they had copyright material. Rather because a Federal Reserve official claimed they had such material! Without any due process, these sites were turned off.
AND FOLKS — THEY WERE NOT VIOLOATING COPYRIGHT LAWS! They were not illegal streaming sites, download sites — not at all what this article is talking about.
They were just conservatives speaking their mind.
I don’t care if you are liberal, conservative, or anywhere in-between. This type of tyranny should scare all of us. When the government targets any group of people because of their ideals, that is scary. They did it through the IRS, now they are doing it through ICE.
Our very liberty is at stake here. This is something all of us — liberal and conservative — should be united in stopping. We cannot allow this country to be dominated by thought police. There is no freedom when people cannot speak their opinion.

The countries that create the IP embraced universally as great content are the ones with the most to lose and bring the most effort to curtailing piracy, naturally. The USA leads in music movies TV, even a lot of design,…..it’s no wonder the USA is setting the Homeland Security agenda.

I’m a citizen of the U.S.A., but that doesn’t mean I like what my government does, I vote…but nothing changes. Same old shit, year, after year.

But if you want to blame us for what happens regarding copyright in other countries, maybe you should think about how corporations are no longer an entity of one, single country, but world-wide global conglomerates.

They have the money to influence all governments to an extent. Which is why you see that the MAFIAA has their own, unique version of the RIAA and MPAA in nearly every country.

I’m on your side, so ease up a little on the rhetoric…or I might have to resort to calling you a ‘hoser’ or something equally profane. :)
