These bills are nothing more than the death knell of corporate music still operating under the assumption that the digital world operates like the old brick-and-mortar distribution model. They and their political lobbying money will soon disappear, and with them, the political impetus to censor file sharing.

The internet connects everyone to everyone else. You might as well try to stop the tide coming in, or the wind from blowing.

what really would be great, is if someone can hack into an MP’s home wireless internet connection, and download from obvious places so that they get challenged by the music/film industries…

Yup yup.. Make more DRM to make life difficult for the people who really do buy the stuff and force them to consider piracy as the only reasonable way of getting their music/movies how they want it… free of DRM. Pirateers are ALWAYS going to find a way around things.. Even if that means sticking a microphone in front of a speaker (music) or a video camera in front of their own TV (movies/tv)..

As before, as it always will be: DRM simply pisses everyone off and results in greater percentages of people pirating and sharing..
