I choose not to watch television or waste my money on commercial software scams. I use Linux and donate to good developers directly for their efforts to cut out the corporate entity altogether. As a business owner, I dislike using common commercial software created by mega-corporations that only have their best interests in mind when designing how their latest products will prematurely fail. I dislike a third party corporation that seems to think they are going to control what I choose to do or not do on my own computer at any time. Windows 8 is designed to allow Microsoft a backdoor into the user's computer without the user's knowledge or consent, with full hard drive read/write access. This means they can delete files and uninstall programs that they do not think you should have at any time they desire, without the user's knowledge or consent. This also means that the OS could be accessed easily and 'evidence' could be planted on a user's computer without their knowledge and consent. Linux has no spyware in it and 98 percent of Linux distributions are free of cost to download, copy, share, and use while not using a tiered marketing model for their initial design. This means there are no "lesser" versions, but instead a single stable product made with (usually) enterprize grade stability, and all for zero cost. Cable television is a tiered product designed to earn the companies more money by teasing consumers with more options for a higher cost bracket.

Library records are protected by privacy regulations- and cannot be accessed without a warrant. Rick wants the same protection extended to the 'net- a fairly reasonable proposition.

Rick also wants communication between individuals subjected to the same protections as mail.
Totally reasonable.
Pirating has nothing to do with privacy- which you've failed to grasp. Advocating protections, and asking for non-commercial downloaders to be excused from criminal liability are two different things.
But I'm arguing with a troll again, aren't I?
