I’m glad I wasn’t forced into being a penniless musician by the Occupation Control Board, it must be terrible knowing that you have to be in some shitty band playing god awful songs that no-one likes enough to buy, and never be allowed to go and get a real job with pay and prospects.

If you’re like me (above 40 yrs old), you bought all the records (vinyl) and CD’s you ever needed in your teens and twenties. I have my 70′s Rock, 80′s Pop and 90′s HipHop all memorized in my head – no need to listen (or re-purchase) these songs/albums anymore.

I live without iTunes and am no longer interested in mainstream (popular) music from the “charts”, meaning: I have no need to download any songs – legally or illegal.

There is so much (legal) stuff online for free, why would you even bother to download at all? You can stream it on webradio or social network platforms (unless it’s IP/Geo-blocked)?

Nobody tells the kids today they HAVE to make a living as a musician – if you do feel the need to a) make music b) decide to make a living doing it, give your music for free and make money via touring, t-shirts, ‘special limited editions’ for hardcore fans (as many do these days). It’s your problem.

I do buy some music still… as a gesture; to support the artists I like. And I buy some rare collectors editions, like I would, if it was a piece of art or furniture. AND I am forced to pay in my country for Public Radio/TV incl. RIAA-style fees, whenever I buy blank CD-ROMS/DVD-RW or a burner or even a PC (taxed).

But otherwise, I am completely ok, with all the free (legal!) stuff out there. Aren’t you?

Wow, needed that laugh. Gah, this goes out to the admin/moderator/whatever it’s called here, the images are not cool, when the text is in an image. It makes it hard to read with screenreaders. Makes you have to open an OCR. Just saying… lol.

Watching MTV Cribs (I did it twice, and willingly) made me want to poke my eyes out and gouge out my ears.
It seems american TV shows marketed to teens seem to have the goddamned worst sods in them… not that the ones marketed to adults seem to get THAT much better (the large difference between the CSI intro songs and the BGM used in the show annoys me immensely).
