The police have to start using all of those great toys or the government might take them back.

So, the police are all too happy to cooperate with the copywrite Nazis. It gives them something to show that all of the military hardware is needed.

Unfortunately, that is the new world we now live in.

Yes, and with NSA capabilities there is no reason to expect privacy on any computer not in a Faraday cage. Just not worth the bother. They can do whatever they want anyway. Just get used to it. It is unnerving at the start, then it becomes depressing and then at some point you get used to it and don’t care any longer. Only problem is you may lose your glow to excel in whatever you’re good at too… If that spreads so lots of smart people start underperforming… now that can really damage a society…

He provides charity (Tor node) to defend us all from oppression. The open wireless “feeds the poor.” He resists our persecution by the powerful, interceding for all the right reasons and at personal risk to himself. He openly chides those same ravening powers for their rapacious evils. He appeals to the secular powers on our behalf in terms well-expressed for constabulary and judicial consideration. This man is practically a saint.

If Hustler backs down, it would be miraculous. If police pursue this issue, that would be a second miracle. In such case, I think we should commend Maki’s name to Pope Francis for canonization as Sebastian II, patron saint of electronic sharing of knowledge and culture.

Or, we could just hope more people “get it” the way Sebastian Maki does and do the right thing(s) just like he’s doing.

My new hero…I’m going to increase the bandwidth on my Freenet node by 10% in his honor.

Tor was developed by the US military and then released to the public so that people with less freedoms in countries like Iran etc., could (somewhat) safely communicate with each other and the outside world, but as time goes on, I have begun to wonder if it was developed and released as a ruse to spy on people, because a certain amount of those exit nodes are controlled and monitored by law enforcement and the military all over the world.

Tor is good for situations like in London and other places with all the Pirate Bay, etc. blocks, but I trust Tor less than I used to, and as a result, I use it less than I used to.

The thing I appreciated about Hustler back in the day, was that they geared it towards the every-man, blue collar types (take beaver hunt as an example), instead of the unattainable glossy airbrushed women featured in Playboy and Penthouse that tried to play to the upscale jet setter white collar crowd. At least what you saw in Hustler, left you with the fantasy you would have half a chance scoring with the Hustler women. As far as Hustler’s porn videos go, they’re pretty lame and boring.
